Sports ANNOUNCEMENTS


On Tuesday the JV boys basketball team defeated Valley Oak, 42-15. Leading La Joya were Ezra Ayers (12 points), Cash Marquez (11), Jacob Avila and Logan Tavarez (8), Owen Reimer (4), and Nathan Gurrola and Joey Bediwi (2 each). The boys finished their great season with the best record in league at 9 and 2.

Congratulations to the varsity girls soccer team who beat Valley Oak 2-0 on Tuesday. Alyviah Sanchez and Bella Villarreal each scored a goal. Bella Villarreal also had an assist. Allison Alvarez, Madeline Alvarez and Carmen Gaebe did a great job defensively. Alisha Vasquez came up with 10 saves in the goal and Laila Fernandez had 2. Great job ladies taking the number 1 seed for play offs. Ending league play with one loss, 6 goals against and 80 goals scored.

Thursday 2/13

The wrestling team will have their awards party tonight at Howie and Sons from 7:00-9:00pm.  Athletes, please invite your family to join!

Soccer/Basketball Playoffs:
Boys soccer @ Green Acres- Release time 12:30pm (report to 1st lunch) bus leaves at 1:15pm (game time 2:00pm)
Girls soccer @ Divisadero- Release time 12:30pm (report to 1st lunch) bus leaves at 1:15pm (game time 2:00pm)

Boys basketball @ Ridgeview- Release time 11:45am (report to cafeteria for lunch) bus leaves at 12:20pm (game time 1:00pm)
Girls basketball @ Valley Oak- Release time 12:30pm (report to 1st lunch) bus leaves at 1:15pm (game time 2:00pm)


Friday 2/14

Spring try-outs will begin on Monday, February 24th. Sign-up sheets are inside both locker rooms. Family ID forms must be filled out before try-outs begin. Forms can be found on the La Joya Website, also can be found in both locker rooms. (See Mr. Souza for more information)
