Sports ANNOUNCEMENTS


Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Basketball Team for winning the 2020 Championship!  On Thursday, the team came to the court ready, and competed with outstanding effort winning two back to back games.  Working relentlessly on defense the Explorers shut down their opponents.  Great decision making, passing and shooting, lead the way to an unstoppable offense in both games.

     The Lady Explorers started off the first game with a 17-0 run with fierce defense, which lead to quick offense. The final score was 40-13.    Defensive player of the game was Annabelle Navarro, in combination with Jenavee Campos and Reyna Soto for shutting down the opposing teams point guard.  Offensive players of the game were Kalisa Holmes scoring 10pts, and Olivia Torres with 9 points and 5 assists.

     The Championship game vs Green Acres was full of excitement!  The Lady Explorers played tough with fierce defense, outworked and out hustled Green Acres all game long.  The team stuck to the game plan and gave everything they had, came away victorious and Champions by a score of 47-27.  All players in this game were defensive players of the game. Anabelle Navarro played unshakable at point guard.  Reyna Soto lead the scoring with 15pts.  Olivia Torres and Kalisa Holmes followed with 12pts.  Kaitlin Ramos and Jenevee Campos each scored 4pts.

     2020 Lady Explorers you are amazing, great job!


Tuesday 2/18


Spring try-outs will begin on Monday, February 24th. Sign-up sheets are inside both locker rooms. Family ID forms must be filled out before try-outs begin. Forms can be found on the La Joya Website, also can be found in both locker rooms. (See Mr. Souza for more information)


Wednesday 2/19

Student vs. Staff Basketball game after school at 3:30pm.
