STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS


Face Masks

Masks are the rule at school.  Please wear your face mask indoors and on buses.


CJSF

Attention 8th graders only! It's that time!  CJSF (California Junior Scholarship Federation) sign ups are before or after school!  Bring your report card and $1 to Ms. Sayre in room 101 or Mrs. Allen in room 503! Sign-ups end tomorrow, September 3rd!  Don't miss out on being a part of this prestigious society!!

Cell Phones

Per Visalia Unified Board policy 5131B:  La Joya is a "free from cell phone zone".   Cell phones are to be put away while in class and on campus.  Proper use of technology is expected.


Safety

Remember to walk your bike off campus and do not ride your bike on the sidewalk, or into traffic, your safety is important.  Please remember to only use the crosswalks when crossing the street, and make sure that you look both ways before crossing.  If there is a crossing guard, wait until you are told to cross.

Holiday

There will be no school on Monday, Sept. 6th in observance of Labor Day.


Come Prepared!

Please bring water and your Chromebook with charger each day!


ASB ELECTIONS

Pick up your ASB election Applications today in the Pathfinder office!  8th grade students can run for Class President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasure, Athletics Commissioner, or Activities Commissioner.  All 7th grade students are eligible to run for the office of "Senator", which will have six positions available.  All elected students will be required to enroll in leadership.   Be sure to complete all forms before the due date.  All applications are due to the PATHFINDER office by 3:30p.m. this Friday, September 3rd.


SPIRIT WEEK

Today is SPORTS DAY and tomorrow is LJMS PRIDE DAY.  Don't forget to wear your green!


PIZZA FRIDAY

Tomorrow, Leadership will be selling pizza and water at lunch.  Pizza slices are $2 and bottle water will be sold for $1. Students may purchase up to 2 slices of pizza each.  Please bring exact change to help make the line move more quickly.


Deliveries

We are unable to accept deliveries for students.  Please make sure they have what they need when they come to school.  Apologies for any inconvenience.


Parking at La Joya

Parents, please use the designated parking spaces at La Joya, and do not park in the unloading or fire zones.  Thank you.


Dress Code Reminder

The Visalia Unified School District Student Conduct Code for grades 7-12 reads as follows:  Clothes shall be worn as intended and be sufficient to conceal undergarments which shall be worn and covered at all times.  See-through or fish-net fabrics, halter tops, tube tops, off-the shoulder and low-cut tops are not acceptable.  Other types of dress that expose bare midriffs (stomachs) or cleavage are prohibited.  Basketball jersey style tank tops with scooped front, back and armholes are only allowed if worn with a T-shirt with sleeves.  Cell phones must be turned off and out of sight.

Thursday 9/2

Football, Volleyball, and Cross Country practice after school from 3:30-5:00pm

Football & Cross Country Outside.  Volleyball inside the gym.

Athletic Team Pictures will take place tomorrow, September 3rd. Please bring uniform and picture packet with you.

7th Grade Football Mandatory Meeting Today at lunch inside the boys locker room at 12:15pm. Please be on time.


8th Grade Football Mandatory Meeting Today at lunch inside the boys locker room at 1:00pm. Please be on time.


Friday 9/03

Athletic Pictures will be taking place after school outside. Athletes please report to locker rooms after school to change into your team uniforms. Please have picture packets ready if you are buying pictures.

No Sports Practice
