?  Dress code reminder:  Baseball hats and beanies are not to be worn on campus.  If you have one, please put it in your backpack or in your locker.  These should not be viewable to staff.  See-through or fish-net fabrics, halter tops, tube tops, spaghetti straps, off-the-shoulder and low cut tops are not acceptable. Other types of dress that expose bare midriffs or cleavage are prohibited.

1. Do you want to get into home games for free? And major discounts on dance tickets? Come buy an ASB sticker in the Amaral Building during lunchtime.


2. Are you looking for an elective class? Come by B-27 and find out what Drama has to offer! It doesn't matter if you are shy and quiet, or extremely outgoing, Drama may be the class for you! Stop by B-27 for more info!

3. Schedule corrections- You may submit a request to fix a schedule in the counseling office during lunch, before and after school. You must continue to attend your scheduled classes until your counselor calls you in.

ID Cards- Returning students who did NOT get an ID at Pioneer Day or Freshman Orientation will get their ID during picture make ups on September 27th.


4. Picture Retakes are scheduled for September 27, 2017 - Grades 9-11 in the Visitors Team Room,    8:00am-12:00pm.

5. Attention Juniors & Seniors:   If you are interested in being a Scicon counselor for Liberty Elementary School for the week of September 4th -8th. See Miss. Herrera in the counseling office for sign-ups.  It will only be for 4 days. Please make sure you meet the criteria. We are looking for students with good attendance, a GPA of 2.5 or higher, someone who can be a great leader and a role model.



6. Rotary Youth Exchange Scholarship Study Abroad - An information meeting for parents and students interested in spending a year of their High School studying overseas.

Each year Rotary handles over 8,000 students in this opportunity of a lifetime.

8. Unbelievable Deal!! Did you miss out on getting a yearbook last year? We have 18 extra yearbooks from LAST YEAR that we are going to sell for ONLY $20! Cash only, first come first served. Room B-207 before school and at lunch.





9. Mt. Whitney Students! Auditions to be the Pioneer Report Anchor, Mt. Whitney's own monthly news show, will be held Wednesday September 6th. Go to room B-204 and speak with Ms. Delgado for more information and to pick up an audition script.


10. Do you want to get into Home Games for Free? And get major discounts on dance tickets? Buy an ASB sticker for $30 and save money. ASB stickers are now being sold in the Finance office. They will be sold all year long.

11. Right now the XL program is looking for Tutors before and after school.  It is a paid position so they need to be seniors and be able to get work permits.  They can come to Room S11 after school if they are interested.

12. Every month Students Empowered by Exposure to Diversity will be showing a movie.  This year's theme is Latinas in Film.  Movie and refreshments are free.  If you are interested go to room S11 to pick up a permission slip.

13. Students interested in taking the PSAT, please see Mr. Turney in the counseling office before school, during lunch, or after school. The test cost $16 and fee waivers are available for Juniors only.

14. Visalia Parks & Recreation has a special event coming up- September 14th Annual Visalia Teen Idol competition being held at the Redwood High School LJ Williams Theater.  This event will be held on Saturday, September 9th at 6PM!  Come out and support the Visalia youth, you do not want to miss this event! Pre-sale tickets can now be purchased at the Anthony Community Center for only $7!  For more information call 713-4069
15. Do you consider yourself among the top students at Mt. Whitney?  If so, California Scholarship Federation (CSF) Rush Week is THIS WEEK.  You may sign up during lunch or before school in I-9.  Be sure to bring your June report card (or a transcript), a completed application, and your $5 dollars for dues.  Fee waivers are available, just see Miss Domena. Applications are now available in I-9. This will be the only week this semester to apply!
CSF members who qualify for at least 4 semesters in high school will earn Life Membership, front row seats at graduation, gold cords, a gold tassel and the honor of attending a luncheon at the Convention Center during your senior year.

16. Anyone interested in playing boys basketball that a mandatory meeting will be held at lunch on Wednesday 8/30 in the Home Team room and practice schedules will be distributed.

SPORTS BULLETIN



Aug. 29

Congratulations to the JV boys water polo team for defeating Dinuba, Hanford West and Lemoore this weekend at the Lemoore JV tournament and coming home with the 2nd place trophy.

There will be a mandatory softball meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at lunch in the B24, Coach Johnson's room.  Pizza will be served.  The new varsity coach will be introduced.

Boys basketball, there will be a mandatory meeting at lunch on Wednesday, Aug. 30 in the gym.  Practice schedules will be distributed.

Girls Soccer will have a mandatory meeting for all girls interested in playing this year on Aug. 31 at 3:45pm in the P.E. classroom.  Training will begin on Sept. 5, Tuesday thru Thursday from 4 to 5:00pm.

Boys soccer will be practicing on the freshman baseball field on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45-5:00pm.

Attention any athlete that is hoping to continue playing in college.  You must be registered with the NCAA Clearinghouse in order to participate as a student-athlete in College.  Please see Mrs. Hernandez in the Counseling Office if you have not registered or have questions.

Attention girls tennis players, match vs. El Diamante will be played today at Mt. Whitney at 6pm.  The match vs. El Diamante on Sept. 20 will now be played at El Diamante.

Teachers, please excuse the volleyball teams today at 2:15, the bus will leave for Kingsburg at 2:30, and the girls water polo team at 2:00, the bus will leave for Kingsburg at 2:15. There are no early outs for girls tennis vs. El D today.  There are no early outs for Boys Water Polo, the bus will leave for Kingsburg at 4:15. The bus will return the girls water polo teams after the conclusion of their games.  There are no early out for Wednesday, Aug. 30.  Thank you and good luck to all our student-athletes.

1. The Gay/Straight Alliance will meet in J-14 starting this Thursday, August 31st.  All are welcome
2. MEDICAL CAREERS CLUB MEETING on Thursday, August 31 at 12:45 in U=3.  We will plan our Homecoming Carnival Booth!
3. On Thursday, August 31th, there will be an inter-club council meeting in the Amaral Building during lunch!  Clubs, please send a representative to get in on the exciting things ASB has planned!

1.    SENIOR PICTURES ARE SOON! If you have not signed up to have your senior picture taken by Essence Photography, please come to Room B-207 ASAP and get an appointment time for Wednesday, September 6th or Thursday, September 7th. We would like to get our ENTIRE CLASS of 2018 in this year's yearbook and these are the only two days they will be on campus! The session is FREE if you just want your picture in the yearbook; however you are more than welcome to purchase any of your photos from Essence. Please make the effort to get this done!
