?  Attention Bike Riders:  please lock your bikes each day INSIDE the bike rack.  Please do not park them on the outside of the bike rack area.  Thank you.



?  Attention Students:

?  Students who arrive to school after the tardy bell 1st period and the gate is locked will be assigned one day lunch detention that day in B24.  IDs will be collected in the office.  When the student goes to detention that day, the ID will be returned to them at the end of the detention.   Also, ALL students who are not in the gate when the tardy bell rings 5th period will have their off campus privileges revoked for one week. Student IDs will be collected at the gate and returned after school.

1. XL is serving a Super Snack after school in room S-11. All students are welcome to stop by and get a fresh healthy meal.

2. Please throw away your trash after morning breakfast and lunch.  Make the effort in keeping your campus clean.  Thank you Pioneers
3.  All students sent to the Library must have a pass from your teacher and a student ID in order to check out materials. Many students are using copies of schedules or post-its. Please do not go to counseling and request a copy of your schedule as it will not suffice in the check-out process. It is your responsibility to carry your student ID. Replacement IDs are $10 in the Counseling Office.  Please see Mrs. Herrera.  Thank you, MWHS Library Staff
4. Hey Mt Whitney, Let's get into the Holiday Spirit!  You can help make Christmas a little brighter for children in the hospital by donating new coloring books, crayons and crafts for the Pediatric patients at Kaweah Delta Hospital.  Drop off your new donations in the Attendance Office, Nurse's Office or in U-3 any time before finals.

5. The Mount Whitney Orchestra is preparing a wonderful evening of music and merrymaking for their Pioneer family! The Orchestra's Winter Concert will be at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 11th at the LJ Williams Theater. Tickets are being sold by members of the orchestra for $5 each. Let's fill the house! See you then!


6. Starting Monday, freshmen will no longer be allowed to pick up food from vendors or go to the ice cream truck.  Per district policy, freshmen are not allowed to leave campus.  Freshmen. Please do not order food because you will not be allowed to go past the gate to pick up the food.  Students in grades 10-12 will only be allowed to pick up food they have ordered IF they present a student ID at the gate and you are clear to leave campus.  Without a student ID, you will not be able to go passed the gate.  If you are scanned and you have fees or lunch detentions, you will not be allowed to pick up your food from vendors.

Club Notes



1.     The Gay/Straight Alliance will continue to meet Wednesdays in J-14. Stop by and bring a friend.



2.     Club Notes: The Intersectional Feminist Club meets every Monday at lunch in K7. Join us and bring a friend!



3.     Rescheduled club pictures will be taken next week during lunch:



Monday, December 10th- Sophomore Club, Photography, FFA, and Anime Club

Tuesday, December 11th- Freshmen Club, Outdoors Club, Mock Trial, and Poetry    Literary

Please arrive to the Oak Tree at the beginning of lunch for your pictures


4.     The Pioneer Partners are meeting this Tuesday, December 11th during lunch.  Water and snacks will be provided.  We will be decorating Gingerbread Houses.  Hope to see you there!  Mrs. Allan

1.     Seniors-Come by the counseling office during lunch or before/after school to sign up for college visits.

2.   Attention Seniors!!!  CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED.
 The California State University Fall 2019 Priority Application Deadline has been extended from November 30, 2018, to 11:59 PM on December 15, 2018, for all applicants.

The Fresno State deadline to apply to EOP is December 15.  EOP letters of recommendations are due December 29, 2018.

3.     The COS Financial Aid Department will be hosting a FAFSA Night this Thursday (12/6) from 5:30-7:30 pm in the MW Library. This will be an excellent opportunity for students and parents to learn about and complete the FAFSA and Dream Act applications. All seniors are welcome to attend regardless of their future school of attendance. For more information please stop by the Counseling Office.

4.     SENIORS: 12 inch by 18 inch posters of your senior group class picture are now available in Room B-207 for $10 each. There are only 25 left and on a first come, first serve basis. Get yours while you still can!

1.     Seniors! The Mt. Whitney Scholarship Application is now available. Please check your school email for more details.

  *   Applicants must be a high school senior with at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA, plan to pursue studies in the STEM fields at a four-year accredited college or university, and show financial need.
  *   Specific college majors include: computer and information systems, engineering, engineering technology, management information systems, mathematics, natural resources and conservation, or physical sciences.
  *   Applicants must live in Southern California Edison's service territory.
  *   The top 100 finalists will be required to submit a short video. Don't stress, it's simple.
  *   Dependents of Edison International and SCE employees and retirees are not eligible.
