?  Attention Students:

ALL students who are not in the gate when the tardy bell rings 1st period will be given a lunch detention and ID taken.  Please report to B-24 for lunch detention and ID will be returned.  Because there is no detention on Fridays, If you come in late on Friday, you will not be allowed to leave campus for lunch and will have to serve detention on Monday.

1. Landed a job and need a work permit?  Come to the front office and pick up an application with Mrs. Reyes



2. Juniors and Seniors- We are in need of Scicon counselors, If you are interested and want more information, please see Ms. Herrera in the counseling office (L-2).


3. Due to the excessive miss-use of skateboards on campus, there will be no skateboards stored in teacher's classrooms, carrying of skateboards on campus, or riding on campus.  All skateboards will be stored at the beginning of the day in the skateboard lockers.  Anyone breaking the rules will lose the privilege of bringing a skateboard at all and they will be confiscated.


4. Attention students: There is still time to sign-up and become a Mt. Whitney PTSA member, Mt. Whitney PTSA has two scholarships available for members only. If you are interested in becoming a member please use the link to apply https://jointotem.com/ or see Miss. Herrera in the counseling office for more information.
5. Sign up for the MWHS Blood Drive on Wednesday, March 4th. Pick up permission slips and information from Mr. Naylor in Room I-7 or Mr. Perrotta in Room H-5. You can sign up for your time slot on line, just look for the QR code on the many posters around Mt. Whitney. Participants must be 16 years old by March 4th and weigh at least 100 lbs. Eat a good meal before giving and drink lots of water!
6. HERE WE GO! The final order for yearbooks has been made. We ordered some extra yearbooks and those will go on sale starting February 25th in Room B-207 or online at Jostens.com. The price is $95.  Once these books are sold, that's it, NO MORE BOOKS CAN BE ORDERED! Get yours while you still can, first come first served.
7. Spring Fling is on March 7th at El Diamante HS: the theme is Aloha Spring Fling.  Tickets go on sale on March 2nd! You get cleared at the time you purchase your ticket in the library. Tickets stop after 2:30pm on Friday. Single Tickets are $10.00 with an ASB embossment, $20.00 without embossment, and $40.00 at the door. If you're date attends a school from outside of Visalia Unified, please see Mrs. Reyes in the front office for a guest pass.  Guest passes are due by Wednesday, December 4th.  Hope to see you there!
8. Attention MW Students and Staff. The library is hosting a Dr. Seuss birthday celebration on Monday, March 2nd in the Library at lunchtime. We are going to be hosting the following events: a Hopscotch contest out in front of the library doors, guess how many fish are in the jar, a Uno contest, and contest of  the fishbowl (which will be how many correct book names can you give without help in less than 2 minutes!" The Library staff will take the top 2 winners from each event and enter your name into the drawing for a chance to win 1 of 3 $10.00 gift card. We will be offering a free slice of cake on a first come-first serve basis until it lasts. Please come out and celebrate the famous Dr. Seuss with your Library staff and fellow students!
9. Attention Junior and Senior girls- Need a dress for prom or just a party dress? It is time for the Enchanted Evening Prom Dress Give-Away! You do not have to go to prom to get a dress!! The event will take place on March 28th 2020 at the Wyndham Hotel. It is a first-come first-serve event. In order to participate, you MUST sign up with Mrs. Cantu in the counseling office by March 20th.

Club Notes



1.     Anime Club meeting will be every Thursday in Rm. H3 during lunch



2.     Interact Club meets are on Mondays at J-8.  All are welcome.  There will be pizza and food.





3.     The GSA meetings this semester are rescheduled for Thursdays during lunch.  We are still meeting in Room T-5. All are welcome; see you there!

1.    The American Legion Sierra Post 785 Scholarship will award up to $1,000 to students who are the dependent children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, or niece or nephew of an active duty service member who honorably served or is currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. Tara Dudley Memorial Scholarship
Deadline: 03/27 (By 3:30pm)
Criteria:

1.      Must be involved in one of the following:
*     Sports
*     Performing Arts (Band, Orchestra, Choir, Dance, Drama)
*     Visual Arts (Art, Graphics, Film)
2.   GPA of at least 2.5.
3.   Must be a Mt. Whitney PTA member (Please attach copy of membership card). If you are not currently a member you can still join!
4.   Plan to attend a two or four year college in the fall of 2020.
5.   Must submit proof of college acceptance, if awarded the scholarship.
6.   DEADLINE:  Friday, March 27, 2020 by 3:30p.m. Please Pick up application in the counseling office, and submit essay, unofficial transcript and your activities record to Ms. Bravo in the counseling office.
