 1.  Redwood will be launching a Tardy Pilot Program to address students out of class.  The purpose of the Pilot Program is to promote academic success and deter students from being tardy to class or out of class without permission.  Students must have an appropriate pass to be out of class or late to class. Examples of an appropriate pass will include: teacher-provided Redwood pass and Redwood counseling, attendance, office, or nurse passes).  Any student without an appropriate pass will have their ID scanned and/or name taken down.  Consequences for being out of class without permission will be loss of off campus lunch privileges and/or an assigned detention. This Pilot Program will begin TODAY and will end on Friday, June 2nd.
2.       GRADUATION SPEECH:  Senior Graduation Speech Auditions will take place during lunch TODAY.
3.       HIP HOP AUDITIONS TODAY and Friday April 29th at lunch in the Dance Room.  Students will learn a hip hop combination on the first day and audition the second day.
4.       INTERNATIONAL BOYS AUDITIONS for next year are TODAY at lunch in the Dance Room.
5.       POWDER PUFF GAME TONIGHT at the Mineral King Bowl at 7:00 p.m.
SPORTS TODAY/EARLY RELEASES:
Swimming vs. Mt. Whitney 4:00 p.m./Early Release 2:45 p.m.
NEW ANNOUNCEMENT:

 1.  SUPER HERO LUNCHEON FOR OUR TEACHERS AND STAFF ON MAY 5:  Please help PTSA show how much we appreciate all of the hard work our teachers and staff do everyday to benefit our students.  We have over 100 people we'd like to thank so we need as many parents as possible to help out.  We need fruit, veggies, salads, desserts, and helping hands to make this luncheon successful.  Don't know what to give?  You can also make a monetary donation toward this luncheon.  Please contact Alicia Olsen at 559/731-0723 and let her know how you'd like to help.

2.       Redwood Dance Scholarship

Must be a 4 year Dance Force Member, plus one of the following: declared dance major, dance minor, college or university dance team member or contracted with a professional talent agency (specializing in dance).  Applicant must submit a essay that explains why they should receive the scholarship and what their focus will be in college (minor, major, dance team or professional talent agency).

Must provide proof of enrollment & proof of major, minor, team or agency in order to receive scholarship funds.

Deadline: May 1, 2017



3.       RHS DREAM Dance Performing Arts Scholarship Criteria to apply is the following:

Dance Major (BA or BFA ) Attending a 4 year University 3.0 GPA or higher. Proof of Major & Full Time Enrollment.  Must provide proof of the above when applying for the scholarship & in order to receive the scholarship funds.  Applicant must submit an essay that explains why they should receive the scholarship, detailed description of their dance experience and explanation of their future goals in the art of dance.

PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1.       Redwood families, friends and faculty, please come out to the Redwood Softball's PINK (Cancer Awareness) game against Lemoore on Friday April 28th.  Varsity plays at 4:30 p.m., JV game to follow.  Come support Redwood Softball and help Strike Out Cancer!
2.       LAST CHANCE TO ENTER TO BE IN THE TRASHION SHOW!  This Friday April 28th is the last day to submit a design idea for your recycled outfit to be entered into the Trashion Show!  See Mrs. Yates or Mr. Harris for more details!
3.       ProMED is hosting a field trip to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for a Resident Physician lecture titled "Teenage Pregnancy: Socioeconomic and Health Impacts."  The lecture is just for Redwood High School students and anyone can attend!  The field trip will be held on Monday May 1st and attendees will meet by the Redwood Cafeteria after school.  For a field trip form or for more information, please go to the XL Office in the second floor of the Library.  See you then!
4.       ATTENTION new "SOCIEDAD HONORARIA HISPANICA" inductees:  Our ceremony has been changed from April 24th to Tuesday May 2nd at 6:00 p.m.   Please join us in Room 30.  Report to the room by 5:45 p.m.
5.       REDWOOD GIRLS TENNIS:  There will be a MEETING for all girls interested in playing TENNIS next fall.  Please meet by the tennis courts on Tuesday May 2nd at the beginning of lunch.
6.       SENIOR ART SHOW - Come support Fionn Nankervis, Lauryn Gaines, and Benecia Avenida at their senior art show "Remembering Prudence" at Café 210 on Friday May 5th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
7.       The AVID PROGRAM YARD SALE has been moved to May 6th.  If you are looking to donate clothing, small appliances, kitchenware, accessories, etc., AVID students will be happy to take those items off your hands!  You can drop off your items in Room 103 or find an AVID student and have them deliver it to this classroom.  All proceeds will go towards the AVID Senior Scholarship.  Thank you for your support!
8.       Come support fellow students and watch the first ever all high school TRASHION SHOW - a runway show featuring outfit designs made from entirely recyclable materials!  The show is in the Redwood Gym on Friday May 12th from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. ($3 general admission, $2 student admission).  See Mrs. Yates or Mr. Harris for more details!
9.       It's time for the ANNUAL ATHLETIC PHYSICAL CLINIC!  It will be held on Tuesday May 16th in the RHS Gym.  Athletic Physicals are required for every student planning on playing in sports during the 2017-2018 school year.  This is a chance to have it done at school for a low cost of $2.00.  Physical packets can now be picked up from the Nurse's Office.  Completed packets and $2.00 must be turned in by Friday May 12th to the School Nurse.  LATE SIGNUPS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

 1.  PTSA MEETINGS will be May 22nd in the Redwood Library at 5:30 p.m.
 2.  The HIGH SCHOOL ATTENDANCE INCENTIVE PROGRAM - "It's COOL TO GO TO SCHOOL" - is back!  Any student with PERFECT ATTENDANCE this year is automatically entered into the drawing for a new Nissan Versa, courtesy of the Groppetti Automotive Family.  There are two way to achieve PERFECT ATTENDANCE this year; please visit your Attendance Office for contest rules."
SENIORS:
1.       SENIORS:  REMINDER, in order to participate in graduation in June, YOU MUST HAVE A 94% attendance rate on graduation day.  There are only 4 Saturday School Dates remaining this school year!  Plan to attend if you know you are in danger of falling below the 94% attendance rate.  Please continue to communicate with the Redwood attendance office to check your status.
