BULLETIN
8/29/17

TODAY:

1.       ARMY REPRESENTATIVE will be on campus TODAY during lunch in the QUAD to provide information on army scholarships for juniors and seniors.

2.       ATTENTION ALL RETURNING Pro-MED STUDENTS!  Please stop by upstairs in the library for a meeting to collaborate on this year's activities.  The MEETING will be TODAY at 3:30 p.m.  Students, do you have a passion for medicine and science?  Take the first step to becoming a doctor by applying to the Pro-MED Mentoring Program!  We have available openings for students who are interested in the program.  In the Pro-MED Mentorship Program, students will learn the inner workings of the Kaweah Delta Family Medicine Clinic, attend medical conferences, and have a personal Resident Physician Mentor!  Additionally, Pro-MED Club is opened to ALL students who are interested in becoming a doctor.  The Pro-MED Club will feature guest speakers, a trip to a California medical school, and information about how to become a physician.  Please ask XL staff about the program in the library upstairs.

3.       PAWS 4 a CAUSE MEETING will be TODAY at lunch in Room 94.  We will talk about nominating officers and fundraising, etc.Pass

4.       CSF MEMBERSHIP DRIVE!  CSF membership for Spring 2017 grades will be held the week of TODAY through September 1st.  Bring the following to Room 108 during lunch:  *completed application form (pick up early in Room 108)  *official copy of Spring semester report card or a transcript (juniors and seniors) from the office requested 3-4 days prior to when needed  *a donation of one hardback book for the Redwood Library and  *$5 for dues to cover graduation materials.  Friday September 1st is the deadline to apply.  Freshmen are not eligible to apply for membership until January 2018 but may attend meetings and activities. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Mrs. Cheatwood at gcheatwood at vusd.org<mailto:gcheatwood at vusd.org> or come by her room.  The first CSF MEETING this year is Wednesday September 6th in the Band Room at lunch.  CSF Rangers Rock!!

5.       DRAMA CLUB MEETING TODAY at lunch in the Drama Room.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENT:

1.       A special event is coming to Visalia!  Brought to you by the Visalia Parks & Recreation Department is the 14th Annual VISALIA TEEN IDOL COMPETITION being held at the Redwood High School LJ WilliamsTheater.  This event will be held on Saturday September 9th at 6:00 p.m.!  Come out and support the Visalia youth, you do not want to miss this event!  Pre-Sale tickets can now be purchased at the Anthony Community Center for only $7!!  For more information call 713-4069.

2.       ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS!!!  Please have your ID CARDS with you at all times!!!  The scanning of ID CARDS to leave campus for lunch and for those without a 6th Period Class has started.  You will not be able to leave campus without an ID CARD.  ***NO EXCEPTIONS***

3.       Hey creative people, RED INK, the Redwood Creative Writing Club is reconvening after a long summer of rest, relaxation and imagination.  Come join us at lunch on Thursday August 31st in Room 103.  Curious?  Not sure if this is the club for you?  How will you know if you don't go?  We'll be discussing plans for the year so if you want to get in on the ground floor you gotta show up.  Thursday August 31st during lunch Room 103, RED INK!

4.       Are you interested in conservative politics and issues?  Come check out YOUNG AMERICANS FOR FREEDOM (YAF), a CLUB for conservative students or those who would like to engage in respectful dialogue about issues affecting America.  Come share your views and meet others who may share your perspective.  Our first MEETING will be Tuesday September 5t h in Room 103.  All are welcome, our door and minds are open.  YAF, come check it out!

5.       There will be a KEY BLUB MEETING during lunch on Wednesday August 30th in the Band Room 81!  We will be discussing new service opportunities!  Be There!
PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1.       M.E.Ch.A. MEETING on Wednesday August 30th during lunch in the upstairs library.  We will be discussing our yearlong activities.  Let's get ready for September!

 1.  ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE SCHOLARSHIP STUDY ABROAD:  Information MEETING for parents and students interested in spending a year of their high school studying overseas.  Each year Rotary handles over 8,000 students in this opportunity of a lifetime.  September 3rd, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at San Joaquin Valley College, 8344 W. 3.       We are hosting again this year a MINI COLLEGE FAIR on Tuesday September 12th during 6th Period in the Cafeteria.  Those students interested in attending, please sign up in the Counseling Office.

 1.  CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY will be on campus Wednesday September 13th during 1st period upstairs library.  There will be a sign-up sheet in the counseling office.

5.       A UCLA representative will be on campus Thursday September 14th during 3rd period in the upstairs library.  Sign up in the Counseling Office.

6.       HELLO RANGERS, please make sure to turn in your LUNCH APPLICATIONS before September 21st as this is the day that all applications from last year will expire and all students that haven't turned in one will go to a paid status.

7.       STUDENTS:  ASB STICKERS can be purchased in the Finance Office for $30!  The sticker can save you money on Home Athletic Events and Dances!  Come and get an ASB Sticker!

8.       STUDENTS AND STAFF:  Please be advised we will NO LONGER UTILIZE THE 2 MINUTE WARNING BELL!  Please be mindful of the time and plan accordingly to get to class on time!

9.       SKATEBOARD RACKS have been installed on the east side of the LJ Williams Theatre.  Please utilize the racks to store your boards during the day.  Students must provide their own combination locks.
SENIORS:

1.       SENIOR MEETING:  There will be a Senior Meeting on Wednesday August 30th at 12:00 p.m. in the Gym.  Please excuse seniors from class at 11:50 p.m.
