BULLETIN
9/1/17

TODAY:

1.       CSF MEMBERSHIP DRIVE!  CSF membership for Spring 2017 grades will be held the week of TODAY.  Bring the following to Room 108 during lunch:  *completed application form (pick up early in Room 108)  *official copy of Spring semester report card or a transcript (juniors and seniors) from the office requested 3-4 days prior to when needed  *a donation of one hardback book for the Redwood Library and  *$5 for dues to cover graduation materials.  TODAY is the deadline to apply.  Freshmen are not eligible to apply for membership until January 2018 but may attend meetings and activities. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Mrs. Cheatwood at gcheatwood at vusd.org<mailto:gcheatwood at vusd.org> or come by her room.  The first CSF MEETING this year is Wednesday September 6th in the Band Room at lunch.  CSF Rangers Rock!!

2.       BOYS TENNIS PARKING PASSES at the Conyer/Mineral King parking lot for Home Football Games are available.  $35 gets you reserved parking for all 5 games Redwood is the home team plus any campus home playoff games.  Please email Russ Brown at rbrown at vusd.org<mailto:rbrown at vusd.org> if interested and bring a check TODAY to the game made out to "Redwood Boys Tennis."

NEW ANNOUNCEMENT:

1.       MATH CLUB MEETING Tuesday September 5th at lunch in Room 10, Sierra Vista Campus.

2.       HIP HOP CLUB MEETING Thursday September 7th at lunch in the Dance Room.  We will be discussing plans for Homecoming Parade.

3.       DRAMA CLUB MEETINGS every Tuesday in the Drama Room 15 at Sierra Vista.  Discussion of T-shirts, homecoming and upcoming Improv show!

4.       LABOR DAY is Monday September 4th, NO SCHOOL!
PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 1.  ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE SCHOLARSHIP STUDY ABROAD:  Information MEETING for parents and students interested in spending a year of their high school studying overseas.  Each year Rotary handles over 8,000 students in this opportunity of a lifetime.  September 3rd, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at San Joaquin Valley College, 8344 W. 2.       Are you interested in conservative politics and issues?  Come check out YOUNG AMERICANS FOR FREEDOM (YAF), a CLUB for conservative students or those who would like to engage in respectful dialogue about issues affecting America.  Come share your views and meet others who may share your perspective.  Our first MEETING will be Tuesday September 5t h in Room 103.  All are welcome, our door and minds are open.  YAF, come check it out!

3.       REDWOOD's ROBOTICS CLUB will hold their first (second?) MEETING of the year.  This R2D2'ish event will be held after school (3:30p.m.) on September 5th in the cafeteria.  We will be viewing the VEX competition format and the upcoming schedule for regional competition.  If I were you, and you should be thankful you aren't, I would make sure you came hungry to this event.  Why you ask?  Holly Cannoli 'cuz you may be hungry, 'dats whay.

4.       A Fresno Pacific Representative will be on campus Wednesday September 6th with sign ups in the Counseling Office.

5.       Attention to anyone interested in having a civil discussion about current events in our society and in politics, come the YOUNG LIBERALS CLUB MEETING on September 7th during lunch in Room 205.  Come for the snacks and stay for the discussion!

6.       A special event is coming to Visalia!  Brought to you by the Visalia Parks & Recreation Department is the 14th Annual VISALIA TEEN IDOL COMPETITION being held at the Redwood High School LJ WilliamsTheater.  This event will be held on Saturday September 9th at 6:00 p.m.!  Come out and support the Visalia youth, you do not want to miss this event!  Pre-Sale tickets can now be purchased at the Anthony Community Center for only $7!!  For more information call 713-4069.

7.       We are hosting again this year a MINI COLLEGE FAIR on Tuesday September 12th during 6th Period in the Cafeteria.  Those students interested in attending, please sign up in the Counseling Office.

 1.  CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY will be on campus Wednesday September 13th during 1st period upstairs library.  There will be a sign-up sheet in the counseling office.

9.       A UCLA representative will be on campus Thursday September 14th during 3rd period in the upstairs library.  Sign up in the Counseling Office.

10.   HELLO RANGERS, please make sure to turn in your LUNCH APPLICATIONS before September 21st as this is the day that all applications from last year will expire and all students that haven't turned in one will go to a paid status.

11.   JUNIORS:  The PSAT will be held on Wednesday October 11th; cost is $15.00 per student.  REGISTRATION BEGINS ON TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 5th (before school, lunch, and after school) AND WILL CLOSE ONCE ALL SPOTS ARE FILLED.  SPACE IS LIMITED AND IS ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST SIGN-UP BASIS.  The Fall PSAT is designed for 11th Grade Students.  9th and 10th Grade students will have the opportunity to take the PSAT in Spring 2018.  Students will pay the $15 in the Finance Center and pick up a study packet.  There are a limited number of fee waivers available.  See Mr. Matta regarding fee waiver guidelines.

12.   ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS!!!  Please have your ID CARDS with you at all times!!!  The scanning of ID CARDS to leave campus for lunch and for those without a 6th Period Class has started.  You will not be able to leave campus without an ID CARD.  ***NO EXCEPTIONS***

13.   STUDENTS:  ASB STICKERS can be purchased in the Finance Office for $30!  The sticker can save you money on Home Athletic Events and Dances!  Come and get an ASB Sticker!

14.   STUDENTS AND STAFF:  Please be advised we will NO LONGER UTILIZE THE 2 MINUTE WARNING BELL!  Please be mindful of the time and plan accordingly to get to class on time!

15.   SKATEBOARD RACKS have been installed on the east side of the LJ Williams Theatre.  Please utilize the racks to store your boards during the day.  Students must provide their own combination locks.
