 1.  CAASPP testing for all Juniors/11 grade students will be administered from TODAY through March 24th for ELA portion and April 25th through April 28th for Math portion. During the testing days, all Redwood 9th- 12th grade students will adhere to the following block bell schedule BELOW:

 1.  AP TESTING REGISTRATION TODAY.  AP Testing will take place May 1ST - May 12TH.  To register for an AP Exam, students must complete a registration form and pay a $15, non-refundable, deposit per exam.  Registration forms are in the Counseling Office outside of Ms. Ashford's office.  The deadline to register is TODAY at 3:30 p.m.  The cost is $93 per exam and any remaining balance not paid by TODAY, will be due on the day of the exam.  If you qualify for free or reduced lunch or meet Federal Income Guidelines, you may qualify for a fee waiver.  Please come see Ms. Ashford to apply for the fee waiver.  If you have any questions regarding AP testing or need an AP bulletin, please contact Ms. Ashford.
3.       Hey CHIPOTLE LOVERS!  Help support REDWOOD ART by buying delicious food at Chipotle TODAY between 5:00 - 9:00 p.m.!  Just say it's for REDWOOD ART and you can help contribute!  Chipotle located at 4219 S. Mooney Blvd. Suite B.
4.       EXTENDED DEADLINE FOR THE PROGRAM ADS TODAY.  DANCE SHOW PROGRAM ADS:  Redwood High School's 17th ANNUAL DANCE SHOW, "RTV", will be held April 20th & 21st at 7:00 p.m. and April 22nd at 5:00 p.m.  In an effort to raise funds for program printing, costumes, props, equipment and technician costs, the students are selling program ads.  The ads may be sold to business or they may be personal messages, and/or names from "well-wishers".  Price list for the ads:  $35 - 1/8 page (business card size); $68 - ¼ page; $120 - ½ page; $190 - full page.  Ads are DUE NO LATER thanTODAY.  Questions? 7.       Pro MED will be holding their Pro MED Open House TODAY, at 4:30 PM in the second floor of the Library. The Pro MED Open House will feature a Pre-Med Workshop led by a pre-medical student admitted to the New York Medical College Class of 2021. He will lead a discussion on the process of becoming a physician and will educate parents on which classes and activities would benefit a student in their pursuit to becoming a doctor. The Pro MED Mentorship students will be featured in presenting their Pro MED Healthcare Projects. All students and parents are invited to attend. We hope to see you there!

1.       GAY-STRAIGHT ALLIANCE MEETING this Friday March 24th at lunch in Room 38.
2.       ACTivist CONFERENCT TICKETS are on sale now in Room 38!  $5 gets you lunch, sno cones, raffle ticket, swag bag, and entry to Wooklake's ACTivist Conference.  See Hamblen for details and tickets!  Extra credit for attending available from the following teachers:  Hamblen, Lubinsky, Moore, Saputo, Nauman, Ms. Avila, George, Laufner, Eskridge, Vieira, Herrera.
PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1.       Redwood Alum, Artist and Amazing Author Tim Z. Hernandez will be making a stop on his book tour for his new novel ALL THEY WILL CALL YOU next Thursday March 23rd.  The story is based on true events of migrant workers whose plane went down in Los Gatos Canyon on their way back to Mexico.  The passengers were buried in a mass grave and went unnamed until Mr. Hernandez and other local activists raised funds for a headstone.  Mr. Hernandez ended up going to Mexico and meeting the passengers families and learning about their stories.  This novel is compelling and interesting.  The event is free to the public.  If you want to support art and artists and show some love to one of our own, go see Tim Z. Hernandez Thursday March 23rd at 6:30 p.m. at Ponderosa Lecture Hall on the COS campus.  The event is free and parking will be free that evening.  For more info see Miss Link in Ranger Hall 101.
2.       TRUE Ranger Assembly will be on March 27th.  The bell schedule will be in the bulletin on that date.

 1.  It is that time of year again PROM 2017 is coming!   ENCHANTED EVENING PROM DRESS/TUXEDO GIVE-AWAY will be on Saturday April 1st at 6:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Wyndham Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn); for Junior and Senior boys and girls that can't afford a dress or tux because of a hardship.  Sign-ups will be in the Counseling Office, Deadline is Monday March 27th.
 2.  PTSA MEETINGS will be on March 27th, April 24th, and May 22nd in the Redwood Library at 5:30 p.m.
 3.  IMPORTANT CSF MANDATORY MEETING for all current CSF MEMBERS on Thursday March 30th at lunch in the Band Room.  There will be more community projects to participate in.  In addition, our officers will review their experiences and knowledge gained at the state conference.  Don't miss out, and keep your membership active!  For questions, email gcheatwood at vusd.org.
 4.  "THE BATTLE" ASSEMBLY will be on Friday March 31st.  Bell schedule will be in the bulletin on that date.
 5.  Come to school on Saturday mornings and join Redwood's Saturday University.  Saturday University allows you to participate in engaging classes such as auto, woodshop, physical education, science projects, math, reading, technology and much more!  This is NOT a credit recovery program.  Saturday University is from 8:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.  To sign up for this Saturday, see the following teachers:   Eastman (woodshop - 54) Rooney (metal - 56) Henshaw (video - 75) Laufer (Chemistry - 94) Wall (PE - Gym) Cox (auto - 55) Moran (Life Skills - 102).
 6.  NEW FOREIGN LANGUAGE OPTIONS:  Redwood is looking to offer additional foreign languages for next school year.  The additional options are AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE AND CHINESE MANDARIN. Students who are interested in requesting either of these languages need to notify their counselor ASAP.
9.       The M.E.Ch.A. CLUB in collaboration with XL Leadership Club are working together in a heartfelt project "Bottles for Babies."  Members of both clubs are collecting donations to raise money during the month of March 2017.  All proceeds will go to Young Lives Organization.  The mission of Young Lives is to create a positive and sustainable change in the lives of teen moms and their children, impacting two generations at once.

 1.  The HIGH SCHOOL ATTENDANCE INCENTIVE PROGRAM - "It's COOL TO GO TO SCHOOL" - is back!  Any student with PERFECT ATTENDANCE this year is automatically entered into the drawing for a new Nissan Versa, courtesy of the Groppetti Automotive Family.  There are two way to achieve PERFECT ATTENDANCE this year; please visit your Attendance Office for contest rules."
SENIORS:
1.       SENIOR CAP AND GOWN DISTRIBUTION:  SENIORS need to report the Redwood Gym at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday March 30th.  Jostens will be distributing pre-ordered graduation caps and gowns.

Amount: $1,000
Criteria:


·         The applicant must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

·         Applicants must have a Grade Point Average of at least a 3.0 (B average) for the most recent academic year.
·         The criteria for scholarship selection will be based on varying degrees of the following:  academics, school and community involvement, stated goals and career objectives.
·         The applicant must be at least 17 years of age.
·         The applicant must be a resident of Tulare or Kings County.

·         The applicant must be a legal citizen of the United States

Criteria: Students must be a graduating high school senior in Tulare County, have a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer service outside of school, which focuses on improving literacy in Tulare County, cumulative GPA of 2.5, plan on attending a college, university, or trade school in the US.

 2.  ATTENTION RANGERS!  The ROTARY CLUB OF VISALIA is hosting an art contest.  The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship.  This is open to all grade levels.  The artwork should feature the theme of human trafficking awareness and prevention.  Due date is April 1st.  Email Mrs. Jauregui if you have any questions.
 3.  The Robert Harrell Career and Technical Education Scholarship This scholarship currently gives approximately 30 scholarships at $1,000 each for various vocational technical programs. The scholarship is for a student who is from Visalia (or lives in Tulare County and is attending a vocational program in Visalia) and is pursuing a vocational technical school in an accredited institution. There are four application periods each year for the Robert Harrell Career and Technical Education Scholarship. Please refer to the scholarship for the dates.  Deadline April 15th.
