TODAY:

1.       "Did you know the adult illiteracy rate in Tulare County is close to 40%? FBLA is conducting a community service project that will provide elementary-aged students the opportunity to have access to literature outside normal school hours, by creating a Bookmobile. Will you help us fill our Bookmobile? From TODAY through March 23rd, bring a children's book (used or new) to any drop off location (Ranger Hall 203 or 208, or Business Bldg 74 and 75). Join us in making an impact that will have a residual effect on our community! For more information ask an FBLA officer"

2.       Redwood Gates: Starting TODAY, we will be using less school gates on campus as entry and exit points for before and after school.  The following gates will be available for students to use before and after school: 1) Gate between Administration Office and Ranger Hall that faces Main street. 2) Gate between Ranger Hall and Room 28 that faces Conyer Street.  3) Student parking lot gate between Industrial Ed building and the Science Building.  4) Gate on West side of LJ Williams nearest the Tennis courts.  5) Giddings gate under the Blue Bridge on the Main campus side.  6) Sierra Vista parking lot gate that faces Dollner St.  Please make sure you and your student take this update into consideration when arriving to school.  Student should be in class by 9:06am on Mondays, and in class by 8:12am on Tuesdays - Fridays.

3.       Dance Team (Dance Force) Auditions TODAY 5:00-8:30 p.m. This audition/workshop is for 8th - 11th grade advanced level dancers. Packets will be available in Redwood Front Office.  Students should wear solid color dance attire, jazz shoes & hair secured neatly.  Students will be placed into one of the following classes:  Introduction to Dance, Intermediate Dance, Advanced Dance, or Dance Performance (Dance Team)

4.       Attention writers, attention artists, ATTENTION PROCRASTINATORS:  the WRITING ON THE WALLS contest DEADLINE has been EXTENDED for 1 week ONLY.  Entries will be accepted on and until March 9th.  No entries will be accepted after this date, this is your one and only extension so get that writing and are in TODAY! 5.       Visalia Unified School District seeks to form a student task force to provide input and insights to the superintendent and the board on issues that are of high interest to students.  The membership of this task force will be comprised of 20-25 VUSD high school students who: , Are currently in the 10th or 11th grade, Are from all of our traditional and educational options high schools Represent a wide range of student viewpoints, beliefs, backgrounds and experiences.  Would like to learn and provide input and insights to the superintendent and the board of education to assist them in making decisions that positively affect our students. This task force will meet 4-6 times a year with dates and times to be determined.  We will seek students who can serve a 1 or 2 year term on the task force.  Our first topic will be VUSD dress code. NEW ANNOUNCEMENT:

 1.  SENIOR CAP AND GOWN DISTRIBUTION:  SENIORS need to report the Redwood Gym at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21st.  Jostens will be distributing pre-ordered graduation caps and gowns.

2.       Redwood High School Cheer Try-out Applications and Handbooks are available to be picked up in your office.  Deadline for applications to be turned in is Wednesday March 21 @4pm.

3.       SCICON:  for those students who are GOING TO BE SCICON COUNSELORS THIS SEMESTER, there will be a SCICON TRAINING on THURSDAY MARCH 8th during 1st period in the upstairs library.  Signups are in the Counseling Office.

4.       CSF POTENTIAL LIFETIME SENIORS:  IF YOU NEED THIS SEMESTER IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND A MANDATORY MEETING on Thursday March 8th in Room 108 during lunch.  At this time, you will receive instructions on how to attain lifetime status, and what you must do before graduation.  This announcement is not for those seniors who have already achieved lifetime membership.  If you are unsure of your status, please see Mrs. Cheatwood before the meeting or email gcheatwood at vusd.org<mailto:gcheatwood at vusd.org>.

5.       ENCHANTED EVENING PROM DRESS GIVE-a- WAY IS HERE!  Saturday March 17th from 6:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Wyndham Hotel located in Visalia.  It is for Junior and Senior girls - your name must be submitted by the school before the day of the event.  ALL DRESSES ARE FREE!!!!  1000 plus dresses, Sizes 0-30 in many colors, short and long.  Every girl receives a dress and (1) accessory (either a purse or jewelry)!  If anyone wants to help you can donate your clean, gently used dresses, jewelry and purses!  This will help make another young lady's Prom event and night, a night to remember!  SIGN UPS ARE IN THE COUNSELING OFFICE!

6.       TUX-N-TAILS is partnering again this year with ENCHANTED EVENING for the upcoming Prom.  They will be offering a discounted tuxedo rental to SENIORS.  A wide range of options in style, colors and price.  SIGN UPS ARE IN THE COUNSELING OFFICE:  when purchasing your Tux you must show a school ID, be a senior.  Be fitted two weeks prior to Prom (vest and tie colors may be chosen closer to Prom).

7.       Pro-MED Students! There is a Pro-MED Club meeting on Monday, March 12th at 3:30pm in room 94. You do not want to miss out on important announcements on upcoming events! Plus, we have a lot of event planning so, make sure you attend if you want to participate. See you there!

8.       Redwood High School will be holding an Informational Meeting for parents about the exploration of an alternative bell schedule for the 2018-19 school year.  This Informational Meeting about an alternative bell scheduled will take place on Thursday, March 15 in the cafeteria from 6:00-7:00pm.  The meeting will consist of a presentation by members of the Redwood High School staff with time for questions and answers for parents.

9.       MR. RANGER WEEK will begin on Monday March 12th thru Friday March 16th!  And Mr. Ranger will be chosen on Friday March 16th in the Rotary at 7:00 p.m.  Dress Up Days are as follows:  Monday March 12th: "Metal Monday" (Rock); Tuesday March 13th: "That 70's Show" (Disco/Hippy); Wednesday March 14th: "Wild N' Out" (Rap/Hip/Hop); Thursday: "Theatrical Thursday" (Musical/Plays); Friday March 16th: "Ranger's Rock Blue" (Ranger Pride)!
PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1.       ALL CSF CURRENT LIFETIME MEMBERS:  The YEARBOOK PICTURE will be taken on Friday March 9th in front of Ranger Hall.  Be there at 12:35 p.m. sharp, and wear your CSF t-shirts!  If you would like to buy one, there are a few left.  See Mrs. Cheatwood in Room 108.

2.       Come joining the YOUNG LIBERALS on Thursday March 8th as we discuss participation in the walk out and participation in other social activism events with in our community.  And, yes!  There will be snacks!

3.       AP TESTING REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN.  AP Testing will take place May 7 - May 18.  To register for an AP Exam, students must complete a registration form and pay a $15, non-refundable, deposit per exam.  Registration forms are in the Counseling Office outside of Ms. Ashford's office.  The deadline to register is Thursday, March 22 at 3:30 p.m.  The cost is $94 per exam and any remaining balance not paid by March 22nd, will be due on the day of the exam.  If you qualify for free or reduced lunch or meet Federal Income Guidelines, you may qualify for a fee waiver.  All students qualify for a one-time fee waiver for one exam.  Please see Ms. Ashford to apply for other fee waivers.  If you have any questions regarding AP testing, please contact Ms. Ashford.

4.       SEED - Students Empowered by Exposure to Diversity - ProYouth XL would like to extend an invitation to all students interested in the film industry to join us at COS Ponderosa Lecture Hall on March 15th at 4:00pm. Visit your XL Office after school to pick up a permission slip and turned in by March 14. Transportation from our site to COS is provided by XL.  Met~&~Greet Actor and Producer "Del Zamora."  He is known as a very versatile, strong actor, who can play a wide range of characters, in drama and comedy. A veteran actor, of over 3 decades, his latest work in True Blood, as brujo (shaman), Don Bartolo, is proof positive, that Del Zamora, still does top shelf work, well into his early 50's. Del Zamora a true character actor, who has worked with some of the biggest stars in the World. - IMDb Mini Biography By: Daniel Rojo. 5.       TRASHION SHOW CALL FOR ARTISTS! We are looking for artists/teams for this years recycled fashion show contest! Sign up before March 16th! See Mrs. Yates for more info (rm P4, Sierra Vista)

6.       ATTENTION ALL CLUB PRESIDENTS AND ADVISORS!  If you want your club to have a group photo in the YEARBOOK, you need to schedule it, get the word to your club, and tell Mr. Feehan when you want to take the photo; these must be completed by March 16th!

7.       REDWOOD OPEN HOUSE will be on Monday March 19th from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.  Information will be sent home with your student when the date gets closer.

8.       BOOK DRIVE!  Please donate your old children's books to Valley Children's Hospital!  If you have any children's books lying around at home, or if you're kind enough to purchase some for this cause, please drop them off in designated boxes located in the front office and library.  You can also find donation boxes in Room 47 (Mrs. Newman) and Room 12 (Mr. Harris) on the Sierra Vista Campus.

9.       The English part of the CASSPP TEST FOR ALL JUNIORS will be administered from Tuesday March 13th through Friday March 16th.  Juniors will take the state test in their Junior English Class. 1.       Ruiz 4 Kids Scholarship Amount:  Varies Criteria:  HS senior, minimum 3.0 gpa, sealed school transcript, essay (instructions on web site), letter of recommendation, one-page resume.
