TODAY:

1.       Mark your calendars Rangers! VUSD Prom 2018 Una Bella Notte a Venezia "A beautiful night in Venice" is on Saturday May 12th at the Visalia Convention Center. 8-11pm. Early Photography times will be from 4-7pm, and reopen from 8-10pm. Single person tickets will be sold in the Finance Center TODAY before school, during lunch and after school; Friday May 11th before school and during lunch ONLY!  No sales after lunch! Ticket prices are: $25 w/ ASB sticker, $35 w/o ASB sticker, $45 at the door. If your date to prom is NOT currently a Junior or Senior in VUSD you must have an approved guest pass for them to purchase a ticket.  Also, if your date is not a VUSD student you must have an approved guest pass in order for your guest to attend the dance.  If you have NOT attended a dance this school year, you must fill out a DANCE AGREEMENT before purchasing a ticket. Guest passes and dance agreements can be picked up in the Finance Center. Make sure you fill out your guest pass ASAP!

2.       "Attention Freshmen, if you plan on taking AP European History as a sophomore, there will be an informational meeting TODAY at 3:30pm in Room 30 of the Academic Building. Information being discussed will be Course Details and Requirements, Summer Assignment, and the Course Syllabus. If you cannot make the meeting, please contact Ms. Hinojosa (Rm. 38) or Mr. Orosco (Rm. 39) after May 10th for information."

3.       The AP Euro INFORMATION MEETING will be TODAY at 3:30 pm in Room 30 of the Academic Building. If students can't attend this meeting, they need to see Mr. Orosco (Rm. 39) or Ms. Hinojosa (Rm. 38) for information regarding AP Euro for the 2018-2019 school year and the 2018 Summer Assignment.
SPORTS TODAY/EARLY RELEASES:

NEW ANNOUNCEMENT:

1.       All Redwood band students, parents, staff, and community members are invited to attend a meet and greet with the next band director at Redwood High School on Wednesday, May 16 in the Cafeteria from 6pm to 7pm.  Redwood's next band director, Mr. Jordan Ray will be there to discuss his background & experiences, the upcoming summer band schedule, and other important information about his vision for the band program at Redwood High School.  Please come and help us welcome Mr. Ray to Redwood High School.

2.       "Those interested in joining the GIRLS WRESTLING TEAM for the 2018-2019 school year, there will be a meeting at lunch in Rm 39 of the Academic Building on Thursday May 24th. We will be discussing, physicals, clearance, and summer workouts."

3.       Pro-MED Students! Are you interested in hearing a lecture by a Surgery Resident at Kaweah Delta? The presentation will be afterschool on Monday, May 14th! Stop by the XL office located upstairs in the library to pick up a permission slip. You do not want to miss out on the last guest speaker of the semester!

4.       Pro-MED Mentorship Students, the last meeting of the semester is on Wednesday, May 16th! We will meet at the library and walk to KDHD at 3:40pm. If you cannot attend the meeting, you must email me. See you all there!
PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1.       CSF SPONSORED SCHOOL-WIDE DRIVE:  CSF Club is collecting toiletries for the Freedom House which provides help to victims of human trafficking.  Bring new travel sized shampoos, soaps, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and hand sanitizers to Ranger Hall Room 108 by May 11th.  If you have questions, see Kenya Ochoa or email gcheatwood at vusd.org<mailto:gcheatwood at vusd.org>.  Be involved and make our community a better place!

2.       SPRING SPORTS RECOGNITION ASSEMBLY Thursday May 17th.

3.       "Senior BBQ tickets are on sale for $10.  Bring a chair or blanket to the quad on Log Night.  Food will be served to Seniors who have bought tickets around 4:15-4:30 before yearbooks are distributed.  Tickets are available for purchase from Mr. Schieferle (Room 37), Mr. Fuller (Room 36) or Mr. Miller (Room 207).  Tickets need to be purchased by Friday, May 18th."

6.       SENIOR BBQ and LOG NIGHT will be held on May 21st, Log Night will begin at 5:00 p.m.

7.       COS Dual Enrollment English 1 update:  Attention Juniors-due to COS criteria, Redwood will be offering 25 spots for the COS English 1 class next fall. We will be conducting a lottery drawing in the Redwood cafeteria on Monday, May 21 at 8am to determine which students will be placed in this English 1 class. Interested Juniors must be present in the Redwood cafeteria at 8am to enter into the lottery and must have already submitted COS placement test scores to Mrs. Barba-Tepper. Juniors can choose to take English 1 at COS this Summer or in the Fall if they rather not go through the lottery.  Students who placed directly into English 251 do NOT need to attend the lottery.

8.       STUDENT RECOGNITION BBQ will be on May 22nd.

9.       BAND CONCERT will be on May 26th at the LJ Williams Theatre at 7:00 p.m.

10.   SPRING CHOIR SHOW will be on May 25th at the LJ Williams Theatre at 7:00 p.m.

11.   SENIOR BREAKFAST will be on May 29th at 7:00 a.m. at the Cafeteria.

12.   GRADUATION PRACTICE will be on May 29th at 8:00 a.m. in the RHS Gym

13.   REDWOOD GRADUATION will be on May 29th at 7:30 p.m. at the Mineral King Bowl.

14.   INFORMATIONAL DRAMA MEETING about next year's fall play and musical will be May 22 at lunch in the drama room.

15.   ACADEMIC LETTERS/LANTERNS:  If you missed our Academic Award Night, please stop by and see Mrs. Torres or the Counseling Office to pick up your award.
SENIORS:

1.       UC ANALYTICAL WRITING PLACEMENT EXAMINATION:  The University of California will administer the Analytical Writing Placement Examination (AWPE) on Saturday May 12th to students who have been admitted to a UC for Fall 2018 and have not satisfied the Entry Level Writing Requirement by other means.
