5/22/18

TODAY:

1.       ALL RETURNING JV AND VARSITY GIRLS WATER POLO PLAYERS, and any interested players, there will be a MEETING TODAY at 5:30 p.m. on the pool deck.  Come meet the coaches and get the scoop on summer practices.

2.    STUDENT RECOGNITION BBQ will be TODAY during lunch and any student who has a wristband, we'd greatly appreciate it if you could let them leave 15 minutes early from 4th period. This way they can enjoy a free BBQ and find their name on the banners we're hanging by the office.

3.       AP Chemistry 2018-2019: There will be a MANDATORY MEETING for students enrolled in AP Chemistry for the 2018-2019 school year TODAY at lunch in room 95. The summer assignment will be given out and other course expectations will be discussed.

4.       ATTENTION FRESHMEN: If you are taking ENGLISH 2 HONORS next year, please come to an information meeting TODAY during lunch in room 30 in the Academic Building.  We will be discussing the summer assignment so make sure you attend! There will be two meetings broken up by last name: A-M 12:35-12:45; N-Z 12:50-1:00.  If you cannot attend, please see either Ms. Saputo (room 208) or Mrs. Feehan (room 202) for more information.

5.       INFORMATIONAL DRAMA MEETING about next year's fall play and musical will be TODAY at lunch in the drama room.
SPORTS TODAY/EARLY RELEASES:
NEW ANNOUNCEMENT:

1.       The "Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica" is pleased to announce its officers for the 2018-19 school year:  Treasurer: Ximena Márquez, Secretary: Molly Collins, Vice-President: María Barillas, and President: Rodrigo Baltazar.  Please congratulate them when you see them. iTodos a una!

2.     BAND CONCERT will be on May 26th at the LJ Williams Theatre at 7:00 p.m., and will feature Ranger Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band as well as an alumni concert and jazz band. Bassist Matt Mangano from the Zac Brown Band and members of the Marine Band will be featured. Admission is $5.

3.     ANY STAFF MEMBERS interested in playing Tennis against the Boys Tennis Team this Friday May 25th after school, please contact Virgil Madruga ASAP!

4.     FINALS SCHEDULE FOR SENIORS:  May 23rd, May 24th and May 25th.

5.       FINALS SCHEDULE FOR FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE AND JUNIORS:  May 30th, May 31st and June 1st.  LAST DAY OF SCHOOL IS June 1st.
PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1.        "Those interested in joining the GIRLS WRESTLING TEAM for the 2018-2019 school year, there will be a meeting at lunch in Rm 39 of the Academic Building on Thursday May 24th. We will be discussing, physicals, clearance, and summer workouts."

2.       Mandatory APES Meeting after school Thursday May 24th in Rm 96.  All students planning to take APES next year need to attend this informational meeting to pick up the summer assignment.  Summer assignments will not be handed out before this meeting.

3.       "Attention Juniors and Seniors: if you plan on taking AP Biology next year, there will be an informational meeting on Thursday May 24 after school in room 89. Information being discussed will be Course Details and Requirements, Summer Assignment, and the Course Syllabus. If you cannot make the meeting, please contact Ms. Langlie (Rm. 89) or Mr. Woodbury (Rm. 90) after May 24th for information."

4.       MANDATORY APUSH MEETING.  All students planning to take APUSH next year need to attend the informational meeting.  Meetings will be broken up by names. Last names: A-M on Wednesday the 23rd...N-Z on Thursday the 24th.  Both meetings will be in Mr. Vieira's room 30 in the Academic Building during lunch.

5.       SPRING CHOIR SHOW will be on May 25th at the LJ Williams Theatre at 7:00 p.m.

6.       "AP Language and Composition-- Are you signed up for AP Junior English next school year? If so, there is a summer assignment you have to complete by the start of next school year. To access the directions for the summer assignment, go to classroom.google.com> join class> and enter code kncw3g. You will find the directions and any important notifications there. If you have any questions, or would like to pick up a hard copy of the assignment, email Mrs. Moore at smoore at vusd.org<mailto:smoore at vusd.org> OR come by Ranger Hall 203. We are looking forward to a great year!"
SENIORS:

1.       SENIORS:  Sign up for FINAL TRANSCRIPTS in the Counseling Office to be mailed to your college.  Please have the address to the admissions office available when signing up.

2.       SENIORS:  SENIOR BREAKFAST will be on Tuesday May 29th at 7:00 a.m. in the Cafeteria.  MANDATORY Graduation Practice will be on May 29th at 8:00 a.m. in the bowl.  Redwood Graduation is May 29th.

3.       GRADUATION 2018 REMINDERS:  Senior cannot bring cellphones, purses, and bags to the graduation ceremony.  Graduation caps cannot be altered or decorated.  Only CSF gold cords, C&C blue cords, and Board award medals, and Principal award medals may be worn during the ceremony.  Seniors need to be in the gym at 6:30 p.m.  The Graduation Ceremony will start at 7:30 p.m.; gates open at 6:00 p.m., Giddings Street gates.  Balloons are not allowed in the Mineral King Bowl.
