TODAY:

1.       Juniors: The PSAT will be held on Wednesday October 24th; cost is $16.00 per student.  REGISTRATION BEGINS ON TODAY AND WILL CLOSE ONCE ALL SPOTS ARE FILLED.  SPACE IS LIMITED AND IS ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST SIGN-UP BASIS. Students can pay $16 in the Finance Center (Before School, After school and at lunch).  Cash or Card only.  No checks.  Students may also pay online through the Ranger Web Store.  https://www.vusd.org/redwood  There is a small convenience fee.  The Fall PSAT is designed for 11th grade students only.  9th and 10th grade students will have the opportunity to take the PSAT in Spring 2019. There are a limited number of fee waivers available.  See Mr. Matta regarding fee waiver guidelines.

2.       TABOR COLLEGE REPRESENTATIVE will be on campus TODAY during 2nd period in the upstairs library.  Sign up in the Counseling Office.

3.       ULTIMATE FRISBEE CLUB MEETING TODAY at lunch in Mrs. Moore's room (RH 203). Come by and figure out when we are going to play next, what our t-shirts will look like, and how you can get involved!

4.       ATTENTION GIRLS INTERESTED IN PLAYING SOFTBALL for the Rangers in the spring there will be a short MEETING (15-20 min) in room 56 TODAY after school. Conditioning will begin Tuesday, September 25th. You must be "Athletically Cleared" to participate.

5.       Hey Redwood, there's a RED INK MEETING TODAY. What's Red Ink you ask? It's a club for creative types, you know writers, artists, songwriters, poets and people who like to hang out with them because they usually say something interesting. If that's your thing, we're your club, Come join us! Tues, lunch, room 103. And now your bulletin reader will perform an interpretive dance for your entertainment.

6.       Gates Scholarship: Basic Eligibility  To apply, students must be:  *A high school senior  *From at least one of the following ethnicities:  African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic AmericanPell-eligible  *A US citizen, national, or permanent resident  *In good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)   Additionally, a student must plan to enroll full-time, in a four-year degree program, at a US accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college or university.Ideal Candidate  An ideal candidate will have:  *An outstanding academic record in high school (in the top 10% of his/her graduating class)  *Demonstrated leadership ability (e.g., as shown through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities)  *Exceptional personal success skills (e.g., emotional maturity, motivation, perseverance, etc.)  Apply at: https://www.thegatesscholarship.org/scholarship  Due TODAY!

7.       The OUTDOOR CLUB will be having a MEETING TODAY at lunch in Room 106. We will be discussing our first hike and saying hello to our newly elected officers.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENT:

1.       SCIENCE OLYMPIAD MEETING Tuesday September 19th during lunch in Room 94.  We will discuss teams and selecting events, study session schedule, etc.

2.       BROWN UNIVERSITY will be on campus Wednesday October 3rd during 4th period in the upstairs library.  Sign up in the Counseling Office.

3.       BSU CLUB (Black Student Union) MEETING!  Are you interested in being a part of an inclusive group filled with culture and diversity?  If so, join BSU Meetings are held every other Wednesday during lunch in Mr. Hawthorne's Room 60.

4.       2ND FBLA MEETING OF THE YEAR!  Thursday September 20th at lunch in 74.  Pizza will be served!  #JoinTheTradition

5.       MANDATORY GIRLS SOCCER MEETING on Tuesday September 25th at lunch in Coach Vieira's room 30.  We will be discussing conditioning dates and provide try-out information for the 2018-2019 season.
PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1.       Green Club will be MEETING on Wednesday September 19th in Room 33.  Come and get involved to make our campus and community more sustainable.

2.       THE 8TH ANNUAL IMPROV SHOW IS COMING!!! Rotary Theater, September 21st at 7 pm.  Tickets are $5 presale and can be purchased from Mrs. Galvan in the drama Room 15, at Sierra Vista.  Tickets are $8 at the door.  Come see Redwood Theater represent at this 4 school event! Let's fill Rotary with Rangers!!!

3.       IMPORTANT FOR ALL CSF MEMBERS!  If you missed the membership drive last week for any reason, please see Mrs. Cheatwood in room 108 ASAP!  Be sure to bring a transcript! This is especially important for seniors!  Also, CSF t-shirts are on sale for $10 and can be purchased now.  OUR FIRST MEETING IS WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26TH IN THE GYM AT LUNCH, and if you haven't joined REMIND, text @rangercsf to 81010.

4.       SCICON TRAINING for those interested in being a COUNSELOR will be on Thursday September 27th during 1st Period in the upstairs library.  Sign up in the Counseling Office.

5.       JUNIORS AND SENIORS!  Youth Leadership, a leadership and mentoring program is now available.  Apply today for the opportunity to make a difference in your community. SCHOLARSHIPS:

1.       AES Engineer Scholarship
Criteria:  Future leaders in all areas attending a college or university, it is not required
to be an engineer to receive this scholarship  Application Process:  Apply at http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm  Deadline:  October 6.

2.       Haz La U Scholarship
Amount: up to $15,000 grant:  *Be of Hispanic heritage.  *Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States with a valid Social Security Number at the time of application. All legal permanent residents must submit a copy of their valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired).  *Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  *Be pursuing or plan to pursue your first undergraduate degree  *Have plans to enroll full-time in a degree seeking program at a two or four year U.S. accredited institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U. S. 2.       Horatio Alger Scholarship
Amount:  $1,000-$25, 000 scholarships  Criteria:  Students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society
