TODAY:

1.       Juniors: The PSAT will be held on Wednesday October 24th; cost is $16.00 per student.  REGISTRATION IS TODAY AND WILL CLOSE ONCE ALL SPOTS ARE FILLED.  SPACE IS LIMITED AND IS ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST SIGN-UP BASIS. Students can pay $16 in the Finance Center (Before School, After school and at lunch).  Cash or Card only.  No checks.  Students may also pay online through the Ranger Web Store.  https://www.vusd.org/redwood  There is a small convenience fee.  The Fall PSAT is designed for 11th grade students only.  9th and 10th grade students will have the opportunity to take the PSAT in Spring 2019. There are a limited number of fee waivers available.  See Mr. Matta regarding fee waiver guidelines.

2.       Ruff Day? Spend some time with our furry friends from PAWS-4-HEALING! The therapy dog session, hosted by the Pro-MED Club, will take place TODAY during your lunch in the library. You do not want to miss out on this fun opportunity to pet a few dogs!

3.       2ND FBLA MEETING OF THE YEAR!  TODAY at lunch in 74.  Pizza will be served!  #JoinTheTradition

4.       REDWOOD SPIKEBALL CLUB!  Our first MEETING will be TODAY in Room 90!  Come to learn how to play SPIKEBALL and receive more information on upcoming dates!  Saturday September 22nd we will be having pick-up games at soroptimist park from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.!  Come for a few hours to practice your SPIKEBALL skills!  If you have a spike ball set please bring it!  See you there!

NEW ANNOUNCEMENT:

1.       CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD REPRESENTATIVE will be on campus MONDAY'S during lunch in the upstairs library.

2.       ARMY REPRESENTATIVE will be on campus TUESDAY'S during lunch in the upstairs library.

3.       MARINE REPRESENTATIVE will be on campus WEDNESDAY'S during lunch in the upstairs library.

4.       NAVY REPRESENTATIVE will be on campus THURSDAY'S during lunch in the upstairs library.

5.       CHOIR BOOSTER MEETING Tuesday, September 25th at 5:00 p.m. in the Choir Room.    Don't forget to buy your Stardust Fundraiser tickets too!  Donations for Stardust auction baskets are being collected in all Choir classes; don't forget to have your student donate with an item or cash donation.  Men's Choir- GAME NIGHT, Beginning Women's-GIFT CARDS, Intermediate Women's -FALL THEME, Ranger Boys- GUYS NIGHT OUT, Ranger Girls- GIRLS NIGHT OUt, and Chamber- DATE NIght.    Thank you in advance for your generous support of Redwood Choir Program. Donations can be dropped off in the choir room.

6.       PICTURE MAKE-UPS will be on Thursday October 4th from 11:30 a.m. - 1:10 p.m. in the Library.

7.       STARDUST CHOIR CONCERT Tuesday October 9th in the LJ Williams Theater at 7:00 p.m.

8.       MOONLIGHT HARVEST DANCE will be on Saturday October 13th at Golden West High School Gym from 8:00 - 11:00 p.m.

 1.  CAL GRANT OPT-OUT:  With the implementation of Assembly Bill 2160, California public high schools are required to submit a Cal Grant high school Grade Point Average (GPA) for all graduating seniors, unless the student or parent has opted out of the submission process.  If you do not want Redwood High School to report a GPA, please have your student pick up the opt-out form from their counselor or the Redwood Counseling Office.  Opt-out forms must be returned by September 25th.
PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1.       THE 8TH ANNUAL IMPROV SHOW IS COMING!!! Rotary Theater, September 21st at 7 pm.  Tickets are $5 presale and can be purchased from Mrs. Galvan in the drama Room 15, at Sierra Vista.  Tickets are $8 at the door.  Come see Redwood Theater represent at this 4 school event! Let's fill Rotary with Rangers!!!

2.       MANDATORY GIRLS SOCCER MEETING on Tuesday September 25th at lunch in Coach Vieira's room 30.  We will be discussing conditioning dates and provide try-out information for the 2018-2019 season.

3.       IMPORTANT FOR ALL CSF MEMBERS!  If you missed the membership drive last week for any reason, please see Mrs. Cheatwood in room 108 ASAP!  Be sure to bring a transcript! This is especially important for seniors!  Also, CSF t-shirts are on sale for $10 and can be purchased now.  OUR FIRST MEETING IS WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26TH IN THE GYM AT LUNCH, and if you haven't joined REMIND, text @rangercsf to 81010.

4.       SCICON TRAINING for those interested in being a COUNSELOR will be on Thursday September 27th during 1st Period in the upstairs library.

5.       BROWN UNIVERSITY will be on campus Wednesday October 3rd during 4th period in the upstairs library.  Sign up in the Counseling Office.\

6.      JUNIORS AND SENIORS!  Youth Leadership, a leadership and mentoring program is now available.  Apply today for the opportunity to make a difference in your community. 7.       Halloween is upon us!!!! NIGHTMARE ON VISTA ST. is brought to you by LINK CREW. Please join us for a frightening evening on October 16th from 7-9pm. We will have our annual Haunted house on Sierra Vista, as well as food and carnival games for you enjoyment. Freshman get one free entry to the Haunted house and all others are 2$ at the door. Please bring your ID's.

*AES Engineer Scholarship
Criteria:  Future leaders in all areas attending a college or university, it is not required

*Haz La U Scholarship
Amount: up to $15,000 grant:  *Be of Hispanic heritage.  *Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States with a valid Social Security Number at the time of application. All legal permanent residents must submit a copy of their valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired).  *Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  *Be pursuing or plan to pursue your first undergraduate degree  *Have plans to enroll full-time in a degree seeking program at a two or four year U.S. accredited institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U. *Horatio Alger Scholarship
