TODAY:

1.       Hey Rangers! Are you looking to gain leadership skills and getting involved in the community? Then stop by the PRO-MED MEETING TODAY at 3:30pm in room 94. We are having a guest speaker that wants to share important information on becoming a #LEADER. This is a great program to have on your college applications and resume!

2.       CSF FALL MEMBERSHIP DRIVE will be held the week of TODAY through February 8th 2019.  Bring the following to Room 108 during lunch:  *completed application form (pick up early in Room 108), *fall semester transcripts provided the week of February 4th FOR ALL STUDENTS in YOUR ENGLISH CLASS *a donation of one hardback book for the Redwood Library, and *$5 fee to cover graduation supplies.  Friday February 8, 2019 is the DEADLINE to apply.  Freshmen are now eligible to apply for membership with their first semester grades.  ALL GRADES WILL RECEIVE TRANSCRIPTS IN THEIR ENGLISH CLASS. 3.       IMPORTANT CSF INFO FOR SENIORS!  Be sure to apply for fall semester 2018 membership during TODAY- February 13th!  Seniors must qualify in order to achieve lifetime membership now and to be invited by to the Senior Luncheon on April 29th.  If transcripts are received late in your English classes, know that the due date has been extended to Wednesday, February 13th!  Seniors who did not qualify last semester will be able to still qualify this semester but will not be invited to the Senior Luncheon.  In addition, it will be noted on the graduation program that these graduates are potentials pending verification.
SPORTS TODAY/EARLY RELEASES:

NEW ANNOUNCEMENT:

1.    Valentines GRAMS are on the way!!! Link crew will be selling Flower grams during LOVE WEEK. We are going to have a table set up by Ranger hall before school and during lunch so you have a chance to send your loved ones a special message with a Rose on Valentines day. Grams will be delivered during 5th period.

2.        WRITING ON THE WALLS, the school wide writing and art contest is now open and accepting poetry, prose and art submissions. Anyone who is a current student at RHS can enter. For rules or more info see Miss Link in room 103 or email her at mlink at vusd.us<mailto:mlink at vusd.us>. Winners will be published in the form of posters hung up around school and will be honored at a special event

called Poets On The Plaza. Deadline to enter is March 1.  Good luck and may the odds be always in your favor.

3.       ATTENTION RANGERS! FCA will be taking their club yearbook picture at lunch this Wednesday, Feb. 6. Wear Ranger gear and meet in Room 93 by 12:45.

4.       THE SENIOR PANORAMA PHOTO for the yearbook is scheduled for this coming Thursday, February 7th.  We will ask that you dismiss all seniors at 12:00 so that they can head to the Mineral King bowl to get arranged for the panoramic photo.  Dress code will be enforced, including no hats.
PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1.       ABLAZE CATHOLIC CLUB GENERAL MEETING, Tuesday February 5th, lunch, Rm 30. Voting for semester activities, yearbook picture, Toy Drive report, etc. Be prompt and bring your friends.

2.    INTERACT CLUB MEETING on February 5th at lunch in room 101! We will be taking our yearbook picture!

3.       Attention students! Would you like to earn scholarship money using your speaking skills? If so, take advantage of this great opportunity.
The LIONS CLUB will be hosting the 2019 Student Speakers Contest. This year's topic is "Freedom of the Press: What does it mean?" The contest will take place mid-February. This contest is open to all students. Complete the attached form and turn it in to the Counseling Office. For signs ups and more information, see Mrs. Jauregui in the Counseling Office!
The deadline to sign up is February 5th.

4.       FEBRUARY 11TH IS A STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAY; STUDENT NON ATTENDANCE DAY!

5.       LOVE WEEK will be held on February 12th - February 15th.  DRESS UP DAYS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Tuesday February 12th:  Love Of My Life (Circle of life/young, old, etc.); Wednesday February 13th: Perfect Pair (Dynamic Pair (Dynamic Duo); Thursday February 14th: Spotlight Day (Taken/Red, Talking/Pink, Single/White, Player/Black);  Friday February 15th: Spirit Day (Wear Your Love Week Shirts!).

6.       CSF YEARBOOK PICTURE for all current members (as of Tuesday February 12th will be taken on Wednesday February 13th , behind the library (south side) on the steps!  Be sure to wear your CSF t-shirt!  If you do not have a t-shirt, there are a few left to purchase for $10 each on a first-come, first-serve basis!  Freshmen will have qualified, and will be expected to be there for the picture.

7.       ATTENTION CLUB OFFICERS: please speak with your advisers and schedule a yearbook group photo ASAP. Teachers have a link to a form for scheduling. Group photos need to be taken by February 15th.

8.       9th and 10th grades only: The PSAT 10 will be held in RHS Library on Wednesday March 6th 7:45am-12:15pm; cost is $16.00 per student.  REGISTRATION IS OPEN AND WILL CLOSE ONCE ALL SPOTS ARE FILLED.  SPACE IS LIMITED AND IS ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST SIGN-UP BASIS. Students can pay $16 in the Finance Center (Before School, After-school and at lunch).  Cash or Card only.  No checks.  Students may also pay online through the Ranger Web Store.  https://www.vusd.org/redwood  There is a small convenience fee. The PSAT 10 is designed for 9th & 10th grade students only.  Please pick up your student guide and practice in the RHS Finance Center once the PSAT 10 fee is paid.  Any questions please see Mr. Matta.

9.       Come and get your REDWOOD SCARF for $20 (CASH ONLY!) to benefit REDWOOD BOYS SOCCER TEAM.  If interested, please stop by and see Mrs. Torres in the Counseling Office.
SENIORS:

1.       GRAD NITE TICKET SALES:  GRAD NITE TICKETS for MAGIC MOUNTAIN will be available for SENIORS to purchase on Wednesday February 20th at 7:30 a.m. for $135 - CASH ONLY!  Tickets will be sold in the Redwood Gym.  SENIORS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON CAMPUS UNTIL 7:00 a.m.!  ALL FINES must be cleared through the Finance Center before seniors can purchase a ticket.  GRAD NITE is Thursday May 16th.  We will be leaving Redwood from the Mineral King Parking Lot to head to Magic Mountain at 7:00 p.m.

7.       The following 5 scholarships are available through the Visalia Rotary Community Foundation- Applications are available in the RHS Counseling Office or visit http://www.visaliarcfoundation.org/scholarships/ to apply now!
*  The Dwelle Four Year Scholarship is a four year college scholarship for the Redwood High School graduate who maintains a 2.8 or greater grade point average. The scholarship can be as much as $3,000 per year for a full four years.
*  The Provident Salierno Family Foundation Music Scholarship is for students interested in a music career who maintains a 3.0 or greater grade point average. The scholarship currently provides about $600 per year for the student at the five high schools listed in the purpose.
*The Richard B. "Dick" Watson $2,000 STEM Scholarship (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)scholarship consists of two, one-time scholarships awarded each year to students from either Redwood, Mt. Whitney, Golden West, or El Diamante high schools who have demonstrated excellence in both the classroom and extracurricular activities.
*The Robert Harrell Career and Technical Education Scholarship currently gives approximately 30 scholarships at $1,000 each for various vocational technical programs. The scholarship is for a student who is from Visalia and is pursuing a vocational technical school in an accredited institution.
*The Jane & Bill Nash Scholarship consists of a $4,000, one year college scholarship for a graduating Redwood High School senior who maintains an unweighted, grade point average between 2.8 and 3.5.
