1.       SENIORS, if you have not yet filled out your FAFSA, Visalia Unified District office will be hosting a Financial Aid /Dream Act Workshop, TODAY at the Visalia Unified District Office (5000 W. Cypress St.) in the Board Room at 6 p.m.  This is the LAST opportunity to have Financial Aid professionals present while you are applying.  Please take advantage of this event.

2.       SOFTBALL PARENTS AND PLAYERS: MANDATORY MEETING TODAY at 6pm in Coach Rooney's room. We will cover upcoming season information. Please plan on attending.

3.       Pro-MED STUDENTS!  There is a MEETING TODAY at 2:00 p.m. in Room 94.  We are having a guest speaker TODAY, so you do not want to miss out!  See you there!

4.       CHRISTIANS IN ACTION welcomes all to hang out for conversation, pizza, and walking out your faith. We'll be discussing community service projects and helping others. Stop by Room 39 during lunch TODAY.
SPORTS TODAY/EARLY RELEASES:
NEW ANNOUNCEMENT:

1.       Come and get your REDWOOD SCARF for $20 (CASH ONLY!) to benefit REDWOOD BOYS SOCCER TEAM.  If interested, please stop by and see Mrs. Torres in the Counseling Office.

2.       ABLAZE CATHOLIC CLUB GENERAL MEETING, Tuesday February 5th, lunch, Rm 30. Voting for semester activities, yearbook picture, Toy Drive report, etc. Be prompt and bring your friends.

3.       February 11th is a STAFF DEVELOPMENT DAY.  Students released at 1:53 p.m.

4.       Join REDWOOD SOFTBALL PLAYERS at Marie Callender's on Friday, February 1st, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Get your flyer from Coach Rooney, Coach Sanchez or any softball player. Bring flyer with you or mention Redwood Softball when you order. This is a dinner fundraiser and part of the proceeds will go back to our teams. Come out for dinner and show your support.

5.    INTERACT CLUB MEETING on February 5th at lunch in room 101! We will be taking our yearbook picture!

6.    MARINE CORPS JAZZ ORCHESTRA will be performing at Fresno State University on February 3rd at 7:00 p.m., this is a FREE PERFORMANCE.

7.       TIME IS RUNNING OUT! YEARBOOK PRESALES AND SENIOR AD SALES END THIS FRIDAY! Buy online with credit cards at Jostens.com (Senior Ads are dubbed "Recognition Ads" online) or in the Finance Center for cash only. See Mr. Feehan if you have any questions!

8.       OUTDOORS CLUB will be having a MEETING Tuesday January 29th in Room 106 at lunch.  We will be planning group pictures and our next hike.
PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1.       REGISTRATION PRESENTATION PARENT MEETINGS:  Parents of current 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students are invite to attend the Registration Presentation Parent Meetings on Tuesday, January 29 in the Redwood Cafeteria.  Parents of current 9th and 10th grade students are invited to attend from 5:30-6:15pm. Parents of current 11th grade students are invited to attend from 6:30-7:15pm.  Redwood counselors will be present to demonstrate how students will register using the PowerSchool on-line portal.

2.       HIP HOP CLUB MEETING TUESDAY, January 29th at lunch - be prepared to learn a hip hop combo (beginners welcomed)!  CLUB PHOTO at lunch on January 31st, wear white (shirt of your choice) with jeans.

3.       Next PTSA meeting is Tuesday, January 29 at 5pm- Ranger Hall room 104. All parents, teachers, and students are invited!

4.       CSF Fall Membership Drive will be held the week of February 4th through February 8th 2019.  Bring the following to Room 108 during lunch:  *completed application form (pick up early in Room 108), *fall semester transcripts provided the week of February 4th FOR ALL STUDENTS in YOUR ENGLISH CLASS *a donation of one hardback book for the Redwood Library, and *$5 fee to cover graduation supplies.  Friday February 8, 2019 is the DEADLINE to apply.  Freshmen are now eligible to apply for membership with their first semester grades.  ALL GRADES WILL RECEIVE TRANSCRIPTS IN THEIR ENGLISH CLASS. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Mrs. Cheatwood at gcheatwood at vusd.org<mailto:gcheatwood at vusd.org> or come to Room 108.

5.       A GRAND CANYON UNIVERSITY REPRESENTATIVE will be on campus Wednesday February 6th during 2nd, 3rd, and 4th periods in the upstairs Library.  If any student is interested, please sign up in the Counseling Office for 1 of the periods.

6.       ATTENTION CLUB OFFICERS: please speak with your advisers and schedule a yearbook group photo ASAP. Teachers have a link to a form for scheduling. Group photos need to be taken by February 15th.

7.    ATTENTION TRACK ATHLETES: Track season has officially started.  Stay current with updated information on the Track Google classroom for schedules and spirit pack information.  For further questions see coach Roebuck.

8.       INTRAMURAL BASKETBALL in the Gym during lunch every Tuesday and Thursday!
SENIORS:

1.       GRAD NITE TICKET SALES:  GRAD NITE TICKETS for MAGIC MOUNTAIN will be available for SENIORS to purchase on Wednesday February 20th at 7:30 a.m. for $135 - CASH ONLY!  Tickets will be sold in the Redwood Gym.  SENIORS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON CAMPUS UNTIL 7:00 a.m.!  ALL FINES must be cleared through the Finance Center before seniors can purchase a ticket.  GRAD NITE is Thursday May 16th.  We will be leaving Redwood from the Mineral King Parking Lot to head to Magic Mountain at 7:00 p.m.

2.      SENIORS JOIN PTSA by January 29th to be eligible for a $250 PTSA Scholarship- you may fill out a PTSA membership form at the meeting or get a form in the office. PTSA Scholarship application is separate.   Contact Rebecca Bodensteiner for more info- 559 909-3405.

Amount:  $350
Criteria:  Cumulative 2.75GPA or above, good citizenship, extracurricular activities, community involvement

2.       Ruiz 4 Kids Scholarship
Amount:  Varies Criteria:  HS senior, minimum 3.0 gpa, sealed school transcript, essay (instructions on web site), letter of recommendation, one-page resume.

3.       *CIF/Farmers Scholar-Athlete

4.       Sons of Italy 2019 National Leadership Grant Competition

5.       *Tulare County Farm Bureau

Amount: Varies ($500-$2000) Criteria: Must attend high school or have graduated from a high school in Tulare County, must complete and return application (paper or online), must submit two letters of recommendation, must submit a copy of current school transcript.

6.       The following 5 scholarships are available through the Visalia Rotary Community Foundation- Applications are available in the RHS Counseling Office or visit http://www.visaliarcfoundation.org/scholarships/ to apply now!
*  The Dwelle Four Year Scholarship is a four year college scholarship for the Redwood High School graduate who maintains a 2.8 or greater grade point average. The scholarship can be as much as $3,000 per year for a full four years.
*  The Provident Salierno Family Foundation Music Scholarship is for students interested in a music career who maintains a 3.0 or greater grade point average. The scholarship currently provides about $600 per year for the student at the five high schools listed in the purpose.
*The Richard B. "Dick" Watson $2,000 STEM Scholarship (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)scholarship consists of two, one-time scholarships awarded each year to students from either Redwood, Mt. Whitney, Golden West, or El Diamante high schools who have demonstrated excellence in both the classroom and extracurricular activities.
*The Robert Harrell Career and Technical Education Scholarship currently gives approximately 30 scholarships at $1,000 each for various vocational technical programs. The scholarship is for a student who is from Visalia and is pursuing a vocational technical school in an accredited institution.
*The Jane & Bill Nash Scholarship consists of a $4,000, one year college scholarship for a graduating Redwood High School senior who maintains an unweighted, grade point average between 2.8 and 3.5.

Amount: $5,000 to $10,000
