TODAY:


1.       HEY OH!  TEENAGE REPUBLICANS would like to issue an open invite to all students to attend our debate on immigration and whether there should be a wall on the southern border.  Happening TODAY at lunch in room 103. All viewpoints are welcome. Bring your friend. Bring your lunch. Bring your friend's lunch. See you there.

2.       OUR EXCHANGE STUDENTS ARE HOSTING AN EVENT! International Week Speakers. If you are interested in learning from exchange students about their home countries, stop by the library after school on November 18th through the 21st.

3.       CSF T-SHIRTS HAVE ARRIVED!  If you paid for a shirt, please come by room 108 TODAY! If you have questions, email gcheatwood at vusd.org<mailto:gcheatwood at vusd.org>.

4.       TIS's THE SEASON OF GIVING! Redwood CSF is holding a food drive from NOW until November 21st. Acceptable donations include but are not limited to non-perishable food items, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats, and other canned goods. We ask that donations are not expired nor have dents. All donations will be given to Visalia Emergency Aid! Remember to bring all donations to Mrs. Cheatwood in room 108 in Ranger Hall by the 21st!

1.       BAND BOOSTERS! Will hold a meeting on Thursday November 21st at 6:00pm in the choir room

2.       A NAVAL ACADAMEY representative will be on campus Thursday November 21st during 5th period in the upstairs library. Sign up in the Counseling Office.

3.       XL PROGRAM invites you to come by every Wednesday and Thursday from October 23rd to November 21st to the RHS Library from 3:30pm-4:30pm. They will be helping out with any questions or support you may need in your COLLEGE APPLICATIONS, FAFSA, OR CA DREAM ACT. There will be chrome-books available for you to use.

4.       WE KNOW YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR IT. WELL THE WAIT IS OVER. Red Ink and the Redwood Gigantea are sponsoring the Fall Flash Fiction Contest. Tell an entire story, beginning, middle, and end in 55 words or less. 3 entries per person max please. Winners will be published. All entries due by Dec 6 at 11:59. Share with or email to mlink at vusd.us<mailto:mlink at vusd.us>. Think you're up for the challenge? Do you have what it takes? Throw down that story man! This could be fun.

5.       SAVE THE DATE!!!  The Redwood Ranger Marching Band and Color Guard's 15th Annual Holiday Home Tour will be December 14th from 12pm-5pm.  Stay tuned for information on ticket sales!!!

SENIORS:


1.       1,000 WORDS FOR $1,000!  The Michelson Memorial Award is open to all seniors who are current members of CSF.  Members have until December 22nd to submit essays in response to the prompt published at the CSF state website:   https://csf-cjsf.org/csf-awards/.  Our chapter number is 512 and will be required to submit an entry.  For questions, see Mrs. Cheatwood in room 108.

2.       COMCAST LEADERS AND ACHIEVERS(r) SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM



Criteria:
*         Have a demonstrated commitment to community service, outstanding qualities in character, integrity and leadership
*         Be enrolled as a high school senior
*         Reside in a community served by Comcast and/or in one of the following NBC or Telemundo markets: Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, El Paso, Los Angeles, McAllen (TX.), New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Antonio, San Diego, and Washington, D.C. 3.       EECU EDUCATIONAL GRANT SCHOLARSHIP
Amount:  $2,000
Criteria:  You must be a member, joint member or joint owner of Educational Employees Credit Union a minimum of 6 months prior to application close date. Account must be in good standing.

4.       FOOT LOCKER SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: Up to $20,000
Criteria:
*         Be entering college in the Fall of 2019 as a Freshman at a four-year school for an undergraduate degree.
*         Be currently involved in high school sports, intramural sports, or community based sports.
*         Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
*         Be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident (you will be asked to prove citizenship and age if you win).
*         Not be an employee, officer or director of Foot Locker, Inc., or any of its subsidiaries, or a member of the immediate family of such an employee, officer or director.

5.       The Burger King Scholars



AMOUNT: SCHOLARSHIPS UP TO $50,000. Criteria: high school senior with a cumulative 2.5 GPA or above, and must be active in their community through volunteering, sports, clubs and/or religious organizations.

6.       EDISON INTERNATIONAL'S $1.2 MILLION EDISON SCHOLARS PROGRAM will award $40,000 scholarships paid over four years to 30 high school seniors planning to major in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) fields at accredited four-year colleges and universities. The Edison Scholars Program eligibility requirements include: High school senior must live or attend a high school in Southern California Edison (SCE)'s service area or attend an eligible high school surrounding SCE's San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, plan to be a full-time undergraduate student majoring in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer and Information Services, Management Information Systems, Natural Resources and Conservation or Physical Sciences and demonstrate financial need.
