Staff Development Day - Monday, March 20th - Students Released at 12:45pm


VTEC FFA will be holding its first Spring Fling dinner on April 5th at 5pm in the Arbor. Tickets will be sold until March 17th. See Ms. Thompson if you would like to sell tickets or help with the event. FFA points can be earned through this event. Tickets are $15 or a table of 8 is $100.  Egg Hunt, silent auction, and great food! Hope to see you there!


Students:  You are required to show your ID card to get off campus during RTI.  A replacement ID card is $5.00.  If you need a new ID card, see the office - orders will be placed on Fridays.


Students:  If you need a COS ID card - sign up in the office.  The cost is $5.00

YEARBOOKS

Yearbook:

 *   Students w/ cars who would like to feature them in the yearbook:
    *   Please sign-up in the breezeway
    *   We will be taking pictures of students with their cars March 17th at 2:00 P.M.
If you would like to participate, please dress nicely and have your automobile clean for the day.


We are now selling yearbooks for the 2016-2017 school year!

YEARBOOKS PRICES ARE:



$40 until March 15th

$45 till April 15th

$50 after April 15th.

Students are able to personalize up to 4 pages free in the back of the book.
Students are welcome to contribute pictures to be considered. See yearbook staff if you have pictures to be considered.

SENIOR INFORMATION



You will take the COS Placement Test TODAY during 1st period.  Please arrive at 8am to the Computer Lab ready to test!  This is a prerequisite to scheduling your COS counseling appointment.  Seniors, please see Mrs. Williams if you have already passed into English 251 and Math 230 to schedule your COS counseling appointment.



Enchanted Evening Prom Dress Give-Away & Tuxedo - Sign up in the office.  See Mrs. Williams or Mrs. Roebuck for more information.



Grad Nite packets will be delivered to your Civics and Econ classes this week.  If you don't have either of these classes, see Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Roebuck, or Mrs. Maaske.  Return completed emergency forms with payment to Mrs. Maaske after school by Tuesday, April 4th.



Grad-Nite is May 18th -

*         The cost of the trip is $90 and payment is due Tuesday, April 4, 2017

*         You will be on your own for dinner/food

*         Bring your payment to Mrs. Maaske in the office no later than Tuesday, April 4, 2017.  This is a firm deadline.

*         If we don't have enough students go on the trip, we may need to make other travel arrangements, which may change the price of the trip.

*         We are selling Pizza Hut pizza twice a week to help raise money for your trip for $2 per slice.

Seniors - If you did not meet with Jostens, you can still place your order by calling 1-800-Jostens or going to www.jostens.com<http://www.jostens.com> or by visiting their offices at 1222 W Murray Avenue, Visalia.  Jostens will be on campus April 21st to distribute cap and gowns and announcements/orders.



For scholarship listings - check out the VTEC website for a listing and deadlines.  There is also a Scholarship Binder in the office.  There are many scholarship deadlines coming up - check the website for a list of scholarships and deadlines.



You must have 94% attendance to participate in graduation activities.  Attend classes daily, on-time, and Saturday School as needed to make up absences.

JUNIOR INFORMATION

Juniors - you should take the SAT prior to December of your Senior year.  Dates are as follows:  January 21, 2017; March 11, 2017; May 6, 2017; June 3, 2017.  Go to: collegeboard.com for more information or see Mrs. Williams.

*         VUSD District Office, Board Room at 6pm

*         Representatives from CSU admissions, UC admissions and COS's Financial Aid Office

*         District Counselor to cover common application, letters of recommendation, etc.
STUDENT INFORMATION


Tuesday/Thursday- Cookies sales at break $1.  Pizza sales during lunch $2 per slice.



Friday, March 17th - St. Patrick's Day!  Wear your green or your VTEC spirit wear and earn class points!  Teachers get double!  Enjoy Irish tunes in the quad and look for golden coins.



VUSD Summer School - Mandatory for students failing core graduation required classes.  If you don't wish to repeat courses, get your work done and bring up your grades soon!  Mrs. Williams is meeting with parents!  Students wishing to accelerate and free up their schedules to accommodate additional COS classes may register for the summer school lottery.  Courses will be held at Golden West and El Diamante.  Complete a registration form in the office.



COS Early registration will take place on May 2nd.  Concurrent enrollment forms will be provided in your English classes this week.  You will need one form for summer and one for Fall 2017, along with a signed FERPA form.   Use the individual planner, IGETC, and HS/College planner that Mrs. Williams provided in your class visits last month to create your college plan.  Begin researching courses and learning of prerequisites.

BIG Practice - Every Monday and Wednesday at lunch.

Vet Science Judging Practice - Every Monday and Wednesday after school 3:30pm to 5:00pm

Students - Bus Passes are available for sale in the office for $10.  You MUST have your COS ID card to purchase the bus pass.

It's Cool to go to School - The drawing to win a car for perfect attendance will be held on May 22nd at 5:30pm.   Will you be eligible??


Drama Club - The VTEC Drama Club will meet Tuesdays at lunch in Room 15.  See Mr. Morgan for details.



Key Club - Meetings every Wednesday at Lunch in Room 9.

COLLEGE OF THE SEQUOIAS INFORMATION

COS Success:


*         Last day to drop with a "W" is March 24th (This will affect financial aid, but is not as bad as an "F" which will GPA and financial aid)

*         Meet with CAP teacher and/or Mrs. Williams to plan for success

*         When at risk of failing, see Mrs. Williams to drop (mandatory) before the drop dates

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES


Adopt the Block - Neighborhood Cleanup. Saturday's from 10-11am.  More information posted on the Bulletin Board or see Brianna Brice.



**Sign up with Mrs. Roebuck and pick up a Community Service Form in the office.  Complete the form and have it signed by your parents, CAP teacher, then show Mrs. Roebuck to confirm your commitment.



**Remember - you need 48 hours of community service to graduate.  That means you need to get 12 hours per school year to stay on track.
