STUDENT INFORMATION

Fair checks are in!  Please see Ms. Thompson in Room 14 to pick up your check.

Sign up if you need a new COS ID card.  You must be currently enrolled in a COS class in order to get a card.  You must take your VTEC student ID with you, and will be charged $5 for a replacement card.



ASL Club - Join the ASL Club on Tuesdays at lunch if you are interested in learning American Sign Language or if you are enrolled in an ASL COS class.  We will be learning songs and conversations and you can get extra help for your ASL class.  See Grace Webb for more information.  Meetings will be held in Room 11.

VTEC Chess Club will meet Monday and Wednesday during lunch in the Party Barn.  See Joseph Miller if you have any questions.


Yearbooks for Sale - Yearbook Pricing Deadlines:  $45 until January 31st; $50 until May 21st and $55 for the remaining school year.  There will only be a hardcopy option available this year.  See Mrs. Fraley in Room 6, or any yearbook staff member with questions.
If you are interested in joining the ASL Club - sign up in the breezeway.

**Students were issued an ID card on picture day.  If you misplace your ID card - you may purchase another one for $5 in the office**

Fresno State will be offering three Saturday workshops on campus to assist students with the new fall 2018 application. Workshops are held in University Center 123<http://click.iwsend.com/?qs=0b8f9cba136fccc7c53d77696d3cfef7a65545660c0fc7fd105fc4f28bb22c1549f53ab2839e4cb69d92c6428a0a597f9b71d948836d72b6> (UC123) East of the library on November 18th from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Parking is relaxed for all three days. Getting admitted to the campus starts with an accurate and complete application. We look forward to seeing your students at the workshops. Computers and Wifi will be available but students are encouraged to bring their own laptop or tablet.

Jostens will be on campus Tuesday, November 7th during AVID in Room 3 to take Cap and Gown orders.  Jostens will return on Wednesday, November 15th during AVID in Room 3 to take payment for the Cap and Gown orders.

Seniors have until January 31st to submit their senior portraits for the yearbook.  You may submit your photos to Mrs. Fraley in Room 6. If you do not submit a senior portrait, your school photo will be used.

There are three workshops being held in collaboration with Student Success Coordinators on all three COS campuses. These workshops are open to everyone, including future and current COS students, as well as the community. We will help anyone who needs the assistance regardless of where a student is attending or planning to attend college.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

The 2018-2019 College of the Sequoias Scholarship Application is now available! Please encourage students to complete one online application for hundreds of scholarship opportunities. The application deadline is November 27, 2017.   Instructions on how to apply:
All incoming (high school students) without a COS Banner ID will create an account and login on subsequent site visits via Scholarship Manager<https://cos.scholarships.ngwebsolutions.com/CMXAdmin/Cmx_Content.aspx?cpId=496>.  Incoming students who have a COS Banner ID will login via Banner Web<https://banweb.cos.edu/prod/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin>. Once in Banner Web, select "Student Services & Financial Aid" then "Scholarship Manager."

COS INFORMATION

COS:
As an early college, VTEC's goal is to have all students take at least one COS class per semester.  Some sophomores, along with many juniors and seniors have been able to do more toward earning

*         Our priority registration date is Tuesday, November 28th at 8am.

o   If you have not taken a class within a year, you will need to re-apply on cccapply.  COS will assist us with this process during AVID periods.

o   Students and guardians must complete a COS Request Form and return it to their AVID teacher by Thursday, November 9th.

o   Begin searching classes on cos.edu.  ASAP!!!

o   Follow the IGETC and take the next Math and English class in your sequence for which you have placed:

?  English 251, then transferable classes English 001, 002, and/or Comm. per your major.

?  English 251 will be offered after school at VTEC.  Please sign the interest form in the office if you placed in Eng. 251

?  Math 200, 230, then transferable classes Math 154, 21, or 10 per your major.

*         Mrs. Williams will visit AVID classes to review the information and provide forms.

COS English 251 will be offered to VTEC students after school at VTEC with Mr. Morgan.  Sign up with Mrs. Williams.
