STUDENT NOTES

TODAY:

*         Attention Junior and Senior students: Need help with the cost of a Prom Dress? The ANNUAL ENCHANTED EVENING PROM DRESS EVENT IS OFFICIALLY BACK! All dresses are free at this event. 1000+ dresses, sizes 0-30. Every girl receives a dress and 1 accessory (Purse or Jewelry). Some "Minor" alterations can be made at site. This event will take place on Saturday, April 9th at the Wyndham Hotel Back Entrance (Formally known as the Visalia Holiday Inn) from 6:00 AM until 1:00 PM. You MUST sign up in the Student Services Office by 4 PM TODAY, April 7th, 2022 in order to attend this event.

*         There will be a Lunch Carnival & Takeover Tour TOMORROW, April 8th during Lunch. The LAST day to purchase pre-sale tickets is TODAY, April 7th. Tickets can be purchased in the Finance Office.

*         Attention Miners: XL conditioning for Football will take place every week Monday-Thursday at the green turf by the weight room.

*         We now have weightlifting available in the after-school XL Program. We will be weightlifting from 3:30-4:30 PM after school on Tuesday's and Thursday's. If you would like to learn how to weightlift, or would like to utilize our equipment in the weight room, please join Mrs. Panuco (Miss Emerson) after school on the designated days!

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*         Attention 9th-11th Grade Students: Want to play a Sport next year? Sports Physicals are MANDATORY! El Diamante Sports Physicals will take place on Wednesday, May 18th from 12-3 PM in the GYM, free of charge. There is a Limit of 300. Pick up the Physical Packet from the Nurse or Student Services Office. You MUST turn in the completed packet to the Athletic Director in the Main/Attendance Office by Wednesday, May 4th. You will then be contacted with your physical time. NO LATE SIGNUPS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

*         Hello!  We wanted to make you aware that this Saturday, April 9th there will be Saturday Academy on the El D campus from 8:15 AM-12:00 PM.  You can makeup attendance and improve your grades by catching up on missing assignments. We don't have any specific teachers or classes, but you can bring your Chromebook and have an open classroom to turn in missing work on Schoology or Edgenuity. Please email Mr. Abbott (mabbott at vusd.org<mailto:mabbott at vusd.org>) if you are planning to attend.  But, if you just decide to show up without sending an email then that's great too. Also, please email Mr. Abbott before Wednesday morning if you would like to order a free lunch. There will be a sign on the front gate telling you which classroom to go to. *         Do you want that last push to the AP Euro or APUSH Exam finish line? Come to AP Workshop Review Sessions led by Mrs. Nauman. There are TWO different sessions. See information on the sign-up Google form. The first review is on April 23rd and will be an AP Exam Simulation with a full test and grading. The second review on April 30th will be a writing workshop and will focus on tips and tricks for getting a good grade on the writing section of the exam. *         Attention Miners! There will be a Dream It, Be It Conference on Saturday, April 30th, 2022. This event is for girls. The deadline to sign up is April 1st. *         Attention Students: You're invited to apply for the High School Experience Program Conference at the Reagan Ranch June 22nd-25th, 2022 located in beautiful Santa Barbara, California. Students will be selected for the scholarship program based on assessment of documents needed to apply (application & essay). Application and Essay must be submitted by email in PDF format or scan. Essay requested should be no more than one page long and typed in English. Application & Essay must be received on or before April 29th, 2022. *         FREE COVID-19 TESTING. Testing available to VUSD students, parents & staff. Cottages open Monday-Thursday from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Lunch from 12-1 PM) and Fridays from 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Lunch from 11 AM-12 PM). Testing available: PCR Tests. Results take 2-3 business days. Testing also open to parent/community members to volunteer at VUSD campuses. *         Attention Students! Military Recruiters are back on campus in the quad area during lunch to answer any questions you may have. Please see the schedule below:

*         Attention Students: Please remember to bring your fully charged Chromebook to school with you every day.

*         Visalia Unified School District's After-hours Academic Assistance (AAA) will provide after-hours academic support through a virtual platform. This program is available to all VUSD students grades K-12 at no charge, four evenings a week. Homework assistance will be led by certificated VUSD teachers in all grades and mostly all subjects. The AAA program helps students with homework from content previously covered in class.
