STUDENT NOTES

TODAY:

*         Kindness Week is this week, 2/15-2/18. Below are the activities and dress up days.

     *   Tuesday, 2/15- Student Hearts on Campus in the AM
     *   Wednesday, 2/16- Hot cocoa in the AM & Rock Painting in 601 during Lunch
     *   Thursday, 2/17- Yoga in the Dance Room during Lunch
     *   Friday, 2/18- Chalk Art at the GYM during Lunch

*         Attention Miners: XL conditioning for Football will take place every week Monday-Thursday at the green turf by the weight room.

*         We now have weightlifting available in the after-school XL Program. We will be weightlifting from 3:30-4:30 PM after school on Tuesday's and Thursday's. If you would like to learn how to weightlift, or would like to utilize our equipment in the weight room, please join Mrs. Panuco (Miss Emerson) after school on the designated days!

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*         Attention Miners: There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 21st due to Presidents' Day. School will resume on Tuesday, February 22nd.

*         Miner Fusion Club is having a lunch party to socialize with our special education friends for Valentine's Day and Kindness Week. Everyone is welcome to come play games and make Valentine's Day crafts with the best kids around! Pizza and snacks will be provided for everyone. Wednesday, February 16th in Room 315 at Lunch.

*         Black History Month Activity Tuesday, February 22nd @ Lunch!! By the GYM gate there will be a poster "People of Black History" grab a sticky note and add a name to the poster in order to get a candy bag!! Celebrities, people from the past, friends/family, anyone you know who's apart of black history.

*         Attention Students: Walgreens has established an exciting annual arts competition for high school teens in selected US cities - Expressions challenges you to create art that reflects your world and the issues you connect with:  Social Justice, Mental Health, Unity, Equity and more. You can express yourself in video, painting, short stories, poetry -  whatever moves you! The contest begins January 15th and runs through March 31st. Entries are reviewed by judges around the country. There are cash prizes and more for the winners. *         FREE COVID-19 TESTING. Testing available to VUSD students, parents & staff. Cottages open Monday-Thursday from 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM (Lunch from 1-2PM) and Fridays from 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Lunch from 11AM-12PM). Testing available: PCR Tests. Results take 2-3 business days. Testing also open to parent/community members to volunteer at VUSD campuses. *         Attention Students: Please remember to bring your fully charged Chromebook to school with you every day.

*         Visalia Unified School District's After-hours Academic Assistance (AAA) will provide after-hours academic support through a virtual platform. This program is available to all VUSD students grades K-12 at no charge, four evenings a week. Homework assistance will be led by certificated VUSD teachers in all grades and mostly all subjects. The AAA program helps students with homework from content previously covered in class. *         Work Permits are processed in the El Diamante Student Services Office. Once the student, parent and employer have filled out and signed the work permit application; please turn the completed work permit in to Ms. Reynolds<mailto:treynolds at vusd.org> in Student Services. You must have a 2.0 GPA to have a Work Permit. Please allow 1-3 school days for processing. SENIOR NOTES

*         Seniors - You may place your cap and gown orders the following ways:

     *   Visit Jostens.com

     *   Visit or mail in your order to the Visalia office at 1222 W. Murray Ave. Visalia, CA 93291

*         Seniors: Grad Nite is Friday, May 13th, 2022. The destination will be Magic Mountain. The cost for Grad Nite is $141, CASH & CREDIT CARD ONLY; tickets will go on sale at 7:30 AM on Monday, March 7th, 2022 - this is the ONLY day you can purchase tickets. The ticket is non-refundable! You will need to line up to purchase your tickets with the people you want to be on the same bus with. There will be NO BUS CHANGES after you purchase your ticket. Students are not permitted on campus to purchase tickets until 7:00 AM - "camping out" is NOT allowed.  In order to purchase your tickets to Grad Nite, you MUST be on track to graduate and eligible for extracurricular activities the week prior to Grad Nite and make sure to clear all fines through the Finance office and the Library. You will NOT be admitted to purchase tickets for Grad Nite without a completed Grad Nite Permission Packet which includes your parent signatures and signatures from the Library and Finance Office. NO EXCEPTIONS. Copies of the Permission Packet will be provided to seniors at the Senior Meeting on February 2nd, 2022.
