STUDENT NOTES

TODAY:

*         Attention Seniors! Cap and Gown Distribution will take place TODAY, March 15th during Homeroom. You will report to the GYM with your Homeroom teacher.

*         Attention Miners: XL conditioning for Football will take place every week Monday-Thursday at the green turf by the weight room.

*         We now have weightlifting available in the after-school XL Program. We will be weightlifting from 3:30-4:30 PM after school on Tuesday's and Thursday's. If you would like to learn how to weightlift, or would like to utilize our equipment in the weight room, please join Mrs. Panuco (Miss Emerson) after school on the designated days!

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*         Attention Miners! If you are interested in trying out for the 2022-23 Cheer Team, the interest form is now available. You will receive an email with the handbook/packet via email after submitting the form. There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting on April 4th at 5:30 PM. Tryouts will take place April 5th-8th. *         Come join Miner Fusion club this Wednesday, March 16th at lunch to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. We'll do art activities with our friends in the special education program and have free pizza and drinks. Everyone is welcome! Room 315 @ 12:45 PM.

*         Hello!  We wanted to make you aware that this Saturday, March 19th there will be Saturday Academy on the El D campus from 8:15 AM-12:00 PM. You can makeup attendance and improve your grades by catching up on missing assignments. We don't have any specific teachers or classes, but you can bring your Chromebook and have an open classroom to turn in missing work on Schoology or Edgenuity. Please email Mr. Abbott (mabbott at vusd.org<mailto:mabbott at vusd.org>) if you are planning to attend. But, if you just decide to show up without sending an email then that's great too. Also, please email Mr. Abbott before Wednesday morning if you would like to order a free lunch. There will be a sign on the front gate telling you which classroom to go to.  Please let Mr. Abbott know if you have any questions or concerns. Hope to see you there!

*         Interested in trying out for the In-Motion Dance Team? Auditions will be held Wednesday, March 16th 3:30-5:00 PM and Thursday, March 17th 5:00-7:30 PM in the EDHS Dance/Wrestling Room. Both days are required to audition for the dance team. If you are NOT a current dance student and are interested in trying out for intermediate or advanced dance you can try out for these classes on March 16th. *         Attention Students: Walgreens has established an exciting annual arts competition for high school teens in selected US cities - Expressions challenges you to create art that reflects your world and the issues you connect with:  Social Justice, Mental Health, Unity, Equity and more. You can express yourself in video, painting, short stories, poetry -  whatever moves you! The contest begins January 15th and runs through March 31st. *         Attention Juniors: A representative from Fresno Pacific University will be on campus for an informational in-person presentation on Wednesday, April 6th in the EDHS Library. Discover what's possible at Fresno Pacific University! Attend this informational meeting to learn more about their distinctive majors such as nursing, education, and software engineering. You'll also get to learn how 100% of their students are offered an institutional scholarship, learn about their athletics program, and how to prepare for the application process this upcoming fall. *         Attention Students: You're invited to apply for the High School Experience Program Conference at the Reagan Ranch June 22nd-25th, 2022 located in beautiful Santa Barbara, California. Students will be selected for the scholarship program based on assessment of documents needed to apply (application & essay). Application and Essay must be submitted by email in PDF format or scan. Essay requested should be no more than one page long and typed in English. Application & Essay must be received on or before April 29th, 2022. *         FREE COVID-19 TESTING. Testing available to VUSD students, parents & staff. Cottages open Monday-Thursday from 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM (Lunch from 1-2PM) and Fridays from 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Lunch from 11AM-12PM). Testing available: PCR Tests. Results take 2-3 business days. *         Attention Students: Please remember to bring your fully charged Chromebook to school with you every day.

*         Visalia Unified School District's After-hours Academic Assistance (AAA) will provide after-hours academic support through a virtual platform. This program is available to all VUSD students grades K-12 at no charge, four evenings a week. Homework assistance will be led by certificated VUSD teachers in all grades and mostly all subjects. The AAA program helps students with homework from content previously covered in class.
