April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Attention all GW students and parents: On the week of April 17, 2018 through April 20, 2018 all 11th grade students will be taking the CAASPP Math test.  For the testing period we will have a special testing schedule.  Although only 11th grade students are testing, all GW students are expected to follow the schedule below.  If you have any questions, please fill free to contact Mrs. Diaz at mdiaz04 at vusd.org<mailto:mdiaz04 at vusd.org> or call the GW office at 730-7801.

Prom flowers are now available for purchase in the Ag department. Pre-sale corsages and boutonniere will be available until Wednesday, May 2. Order forms and ribbon color swatches are located outside of AG-3. Please turn in orders no later than 3:30 PM on May 2.

Attention Juniors and Seniors:  THE JUNIOR/SENIOR PROM "Una Bella Notte a Venezia" (A Beautiful Night in Venice) is Saturday, May 12 from 8 - 11 PM at the Visalia Convention Center!  Tickets will be on sale starting May 7. Prices are $25 single ticket with ASB; $35 single ticket w/o ASB; $45 single ticket at the door.  Sales are in the finance office before school, during lunch, and after school. You Must have your Student I.D. to purchase your ticket also a dance agreement if you have not turned one in this school year.   If your date to the PROM is not currently a Junior or Senior you must have an approved guest pass for them to purchase a ticket.  Also, if your date is not a VUSD student you must have an approved guest pass in order for your guest to attend the dance.  Guest passes may be picked up in the Finance Office and must be turned back in to Mr. Cobarruvias by Wednesday, May 9 by 4:00 pm in order to get it approved.  Remember that you must be clear of all fines in order to be eligible to purchase a ticket.

ATTN:  Senior, Juniors & Sophomore: One or two Girl Scicon counselors are needed for the end of April.  If you are interested you MUST be in good academic standing, C average or better, Good Discipline and Attendance record and be a good role model.  Please see Mrs. McIntosh as soon as possible.

Seniors: If you were unable to pick up your cap and gown order when they were first delivered, please come into the office and see Mrs. Cabasa. You may only pick up your items before school, during lunch and afterschool.
Seniors: Grad Nite tickets have already been ordered and paid for.  Please be mindful that this trip is a privilege. If you lose your privilege of going on this trip, you will not be refunded your money.

Golden West Illusions Dance Team and Advanced Dance Auditions are right around the corner! Workshops to learn the dance and technique you'll be judged on will be held on Tuesday April 17 from 3:30-4:30. Auditions will be held Thursday April 19 beginning at 4:30 PM. ALL workshops and auditions will be held in the Golden West dance studio. Stop by the dance studio after Spring Break for an audition packet and to sign up for your audition time.

It's a volunteer opportunity at the zoo over the summer!! This is a great opportunity to get some volunteer hours in for college applications and to contribute to your service project clubs.  Students are welcome to see Ms. Neal anytime if they have any questions about what they would be doing. The application opens April 17 and closes May 16.
Registration is now open for the 4th annual Visalia River Run 5k and 10k! Go to active.com<http://active.com> and search Visalia River Run or get a paper registration form from any band or orchestra student. All registration includes a race t-shirt, finisher's medal, race bib with timing chip, race pictures, and snacks and water. All proceeds go to the GW Band and Orchestra
Saturday University will take place the following Saturday's:
  April 21, 28               May 5, 12, and 19
Seniors - register in the google classroom to secure your place and a meal. All students - SU is a great way to get that extra help you might need. Register in the google classroom. Teachers/Coaches/Advisors - Spring is a busy time for testing, sports, and club events. This is a perfect opportunity to provide that extra student help.

Clubs:
MANDATORY JUNIOR (CLASS OF 2019) CSF MEETING - TODAY, Wednesday, April 18 at Lunch in FS-4.  Officer Elections and CSF Life Requirements will be discussed.

FCA: FCA Thursdays! Grab a friend or two then head on over to room A-1.

Blazer Buddies Club: We meet every Wednesday during lunch in P-4. New members are welcome!

Anime Club: We will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch. Join up in S-1.

GSA Club: GSA club meets every Thursday during lunch in A-9. New members always welcome!

Creative Writing Club: Let's face it, writing can sometimes be tedious and challenging, but there are many people that would love a time and place to express their creative thoughts! Come on by and enjoy your love for writing with other like-minded friends! The Creative Writing Club is open to everyone and will meet Wednesdays in E-6 during lunch.

XL Program:

XL has Afterschool Intervention available every Wednesday and Thursday in E-10 from 3:30-4PM for students who have detention that needs to be served.
