Good morning Explorers, let's remember to have La Joya PRIDE in everything we do!

STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

*In celebration of Character Counts and the Pillar of Respect.  We would like to dedicate the Month of October to be the Month of Respect.  Each week we will have a themed challenge to show our La Joya PRIDE by showing Respect to others.  For this week our first challenge is greet someone.  We ask that each day starting today through Friday for every person to greet someone throughout the day.  Each student is encouraged to greet their teacher as the enter class (fist bump, high five or handshake).  Each teacher is encouraged to greet their students at the door each period as their student enter class with a fist bump, high five or handshake).  In an effort to show our La Joya PRIDE and most importantly respect, we ask that everyone participate in the weekly challenges.

Our next Challenge will start Monday 10-9-18 through 10-13-17 which will be titled "Pay it Forward"  More information to come.

*Attention students, as a reminder to earn Fun Friday, as a school we must have 80 incidents or less for the month.  We currently have (6) incidents this month. Students must have good grades, good attendance and good behavior to be eligible to participate.  So let's make sure to show our La Joya PRIDE and help our school earn Fun Friday.

*Attention La Joya!   Athletics is having a  fundraiser at Chipotle's on tonight, October 4th from 5:00pm-9:00pm.   Present a flyer with your order, and La Joya will get 50% of each item sold.    Come on out and show support for your school!   See you there!

*Garden Club meets today after school.


*Picture Retake Day at La Joya is Friday, October 13th.  If you are interested in picture retakes, please return the original pictures on Friday morning.  New pictures will not be retaken unless the unwanted pictures are returned.  Also, if you missed the first opportunity to take pictures, envelopes will be available in the office. Only those students who are taking first-time pictures need to fill out an envelope.
*Builders Club will be meeting in Room 403 today from 3:30 to 4:15. If you are unable to join us, there will also be a meeting tomorrow during RTI.  We will be discussing community service opportunities, contests, and recruitment.


*La Joya Explorers, do you like to play sports, create arts and crafts projects, conduct science experiments, and have lunch with your friends? Do you need additional help with language arts or math or need to get credit for an absence? Then join Saturday University, Saturday, October 7th from 8:15-12:30. Visit Magellan or Pathfinder for a registration form.  There will be a new class next Saturday, and it will be a chess class with both chromebooks and boards in Room 601.


*SPorTs ANNOUNCEMENTS

Wednesday 10/4:

ATHLETIC FUNDRAISER AT CHIPOTLE 5-9 PM
Volleyball is at Ridgeview, game time is 4:00pm, release from class at 2:45pm
Football is at Green Acres, game time is 4:00pm, release from class at 2:45pm.

Thursday 10/5:

Cross Country has a meet at Divisadero, start time is 3:45, release from class at 2:15
