STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

*AVID Fundraiser
AVID is having a fundraising event tonight at Panda Express.  Pick up a flyer from either Ms. Beggs or Mr. Cartagena and take it with you.  Or, show a digital version of the flyer at the restaurant and 20% of the sales will be donated back to La Joya!

* Did you know there is free money to attend college? College is expensive, but the government offers aid that does not need to be paid back, and low interest loans. Don't let the fear of paying for college keep you from achieving your dreams. As Confucius said, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life".


*Explorers, don't forget to sign up for Saturday University, this Saturday. Enjoy making dream catchers with Ms. Rourke, Art and Science activities with Ms. Fierros, or catch up on assignments with Ms. Moore. Go to the La Joya website to register today!

*Big Brothers/Big Sisters Drive
Attention Explorers!  From March 5th through March 16th, we will be doing a school supplies drive for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization.  This is an amazing organization that matches up kids with adults to be their friend, help them with homework, and be an overall positive influence.  The supplies have to be new and unused.   The first period class with the most supplies wins a donut party.   Don't miss out on this great opportunity to help other kids!

*EDHS 8th Grade Preview Day
All 8th grade students should have received a yellow permission slip for the El Diamante 8th grade preview day scheduled on March 9th.  Please have your parent sign and return it to your 1st period teacher by Monday, March 5th.  If you need another slip, please see Mrs. Sales in the Pathfinder office.

*Cheer Packets
Cheer Packets are now available at EDHS student services, La Joya and Ridgeview front offices. Packets are due March 13th at place of pick up.  You must complete a packet in order to try out for the EDHS 2018-2019 cheer squads.  No late packets will be accepted.

*Band Pre-Festival Concert
La Joya's band pre-festival concert is tomorrow night at 6:00.   Come and join us for an evening of great music!
