Good morning Explorers, let's remember to have La Joya PRIDE in everything we do!

STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

*  If you are interested in the school spelling bee and need a list of the words, see your ELA teacher or Mrs. Allen in room 503.  The school spelling bee is Thursday, January 18th during both lunches in LM3.

* Saturday University
The next Saturday University will be January 20th. Sign up today and order your lunch by going to the La Joya website. Classes will be board games, basketball, movies, and ELA intervention. This is a great opportunity to hang out with some very cool teachers and have some fun!
* AVID is selling pizza tomorrow, $2 a slice and $1 for a water.
* Reminder students - you are allowed to wear knit hats (sometimes called "beanies") during the months of December through March.  However, they should be of a solid color with no logo or visible lettering.  All approved headgear must not cover your face and should be worn as intended to provide protection outdoors only.  They may not be worn indoors (classrooms, cafeteria, etc.)  Please see any administrator if you have any questions.
* This year La Joya is joining El Diamanté to perform their winter musical Cinderella the first week we return from Winter Break. The show dates are January 11, 12, & 13 at 7pm and January 13 also at 2pm. Ticket prices are $10 for students and $12 for general admission. See Mr. Morris in room 301 if you have questions or need to get tickets.
*  There will be no school on Monday January 15th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

SPORTS NEWS

On Tuesday the JV Boys basketball team defeated Woodrow Wilson, 51-7. Leading scorers were Joseph Diaz (17 points), Noah Garcia (10), Elijah Martinez (8), Rylan Montgomery (5), Cooper Schimpf (4), and Freddy Valencia, Elijah Tamayo, Avery Conway, and Alex Hernandez all with (2). Great defense and decision making led to a solid team victory.

Thursday 1/11:

Wrestling is at Divisadero, release time is 2:30, match starts at 4:00pm.
