STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

*Attention students and parents - We are hosting a special event tonight, October 16, from 6 - 7 pm.  The Tulare County District Attorney's office will share information about "The Dangers of Social Media" and its impacts on our students.  This is a great opportunity to learn how to identify the dangers and how it affects students in our community and what is being done to prevent, protect and prosecute.  Please plan to join us for this informative presentation!


*Pizza Sales
AVID is selling pizza today, $2 a slice and $1 for a water.

*Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week will be next week- October 22nd through the 26th.We will be doing dress up days and lunchtime activities to show that you can have fun without drugs. Monday will be Sweatpants/Sweatshirts because "living drug free is no sweat." Tuesday will be Pajama Day so that we can "put drugs to sleep."  Wednesday will be Tie Dye Day- "you can stay cool and colorful by being drug free." Thursday will be Book Character Day- Dress as your favorite character from a book to show that you are addicted to books and not drugs. And Friday will be a Red day- "wear red to pledge not to do drugs."  Dress code still applies.

Each month La Joya focuses on one of the Character Counts Pillars. During the month of October, the Pillar we focus on is RESPECT. The yellow ribbons you see around campus are to remind you to show respect in all you do. Make sure to show respect on campus, to your teachers, to the administrators, to your peers, and most importantly- make sure you respect yourself by showing PRIDE.
