STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

* Band is selling pizza tomorrow, $2 a slice and $1 for a water.

*The deadline to place congratulatory yearbook ads is January 28, 2019. Ads can be purchased and created at jostensyearbooks.com. Yearbooks are currently $45 and the price will rise to $50 on Feb.2. Yearbooks can also be purchased online or submit payment to room 603.

* If you are interested in participating in Tulare County's Spelling Bee, it is time to SPELL!  Come by Room 503 today or tomorrow morning, or after school next Tuesday or Wednesday!  If these times do not work for you, please see Mrs. Allen in 503 at break or after school to arrange a time.

*There will be no school on Monday, Jan.21st in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.


Sports ANNOUNCEMENTS


Congratulations to the La Joya JV Girls Soccer Team for shutting out Woodrow Wilson on Tuesday, 12-0. Morgan Philippe had four goals, Kaitlyn Padilla scored two goals and the following girls are got one goal. Madeline Alvarez, Rylee McDaniels, Alyviah Sanchez, Jordyn Soto, Taylor Vandergriff and Beya Villarreal. Great Job Explorers!

Congratulations to the La Joya Varsity Girls Soccer Team for shutting out Woodrow Wilson on Tuesday, 3-0. Celeste Quinones, Jaydyn Villarreal, and Lynea Rivera each scored a goal. Great Job Explorers!

Congratulations to the boys soccer team who defeated Woodrow Wilson 17-0 yesterday. David Medina and Joshua Urista each scored 3 goals. Angel Batiz, Erick Garcia, Tyler Herring, and Mateo La Serna had two goals apiece. Roberto Marquez, and Beckham Ybarra each had one goal. Great job boys!

The Girls JV Basketball team defeated Woodrow Wilson 27-17 at home on Tuesday.  Ashley Bernardo and Olivia Torres led the way with 10 points each, while Nevaeh Creason added 5 points and tremendous defense all game long.  It was a great team win, way to go girls.  The team's next game will be today at Valley Oak.

The LaJoya Varsity basketball team defeated Woodrow Wilson, 39 - 30, on Tuesday. Offensive standouts were Cooper Schimpf (11 points); Noah Garcia (10); Elijah Martinez (6); Max Martin (4); Freddie Valencia, Johnny Chavez, Elijah Tamayo, and Jaden Christenson (2). Defensive standouts were Avery Conway, Martinez, Garcia, and Joseph Diaz.

On Tuesday the JV Boys basketball team defeated Woodrow Wilson 33-19. Leading La Joya were Santana Guijarra and Emmanuel Robles (7 points each), Jayden Dillihunt and Abraham Maciel (5 each), Keynen Gomez (4), Jordan Sanchez (3), and Isaiah Rivera (2).

Before break the JV boys basketball team defeated Green Acres 48-18. Scoring for La Joya were Abraham Maciel (12), Emmanuel Robles (10), Jayden Dillihunt (7), Santana Guijarra (6), Isaiaha Rivera and Keynen Gomez (4), and Ethan Nevarez and Jayden Lopez (2 each).
