* Band is selling pizza today, $2 a slice and $1 for a water.

*The deadline to place congratulatory yearbook ads is January 28, 2019. Ads can be purchased and created at jostensyearbooks.com. Yearbooks are currently $45 and the price will rise to $50 on Feb.2nd. Yearbooks can also be purchased online or submit payment to room 603.

* If you are interested in participating in Tulare County's Spelling Bee, it is time to SPELL!  Come by Room 503 today, or after school next Tuesday or Wednesday!  If these times do not work for you, please see Mrs. Allen in 503 at break or after school to arrange a time.

*There will be no school on Monday, Jan.21st in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.


Sports ANNOUNCEMENTS


Congratulations to the La Joya JV girls soccer team that beat Valley Oak on Wednesday 1-0. Jadyn Rivas scored the only goal. Outstanding defense by Jorja Moreno, Allison and Madeline Alvarez, and Carmen Gaebe. Alisha Vasquez stopped all four shots on her and still hadn't been scored on this season. Great job girls!

The LaJoya Varsity Basketball team defeated Valley Oak, 43 - 26, on Wednesday. Offensive standouts were Johnny Chavez (11 points); Elijah Martinez (9); Noah Garcia (8); Cooper Schimpf and Joseph Diaz (5); Max Martin, Freddie Valencia, and Jaden Christenson (2). Defensive standouts were Avery Conway, Martinez, Garcia, Jalen Bullock and Jaden Bullock.

The Lady's Varsity Basketball Team finished the first half of the season this week with a record of (4-3).  With each game the players are improving by playing together as a team.  This week the team played their best two games against the leagues toughest opponents.  Each teammate played with intensity and toughness.  In the first half of the season our teams offensive standouts on both offense and defense have been: Sophia Perez, Kiersten Shade, Anjolie Cibrian, Krystal Arceo, and Lexi Rios.  Come see and cheer on our Lady Explorers take on Dinuba next Tuesday here at home to start off the second half of the season.

On Wednesday the JV boys basketball team defeated Valley Oak, 33-11. Leading La Joya were Santana Guijarra (11 points), Emmanuel Robles (8), Keynen Gomez (6), Abraham Maciel (4), and Jordan Sanchez and Josiah Simmons (2). Great defense and ball movement from Guijarra, Robles, Gomez, Sanchez, Kevin Baldwin, and Isaiah Rivera.
