STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

*Monday, January 28th is a minimum day, students are released at 1:30pm.
*The TKMEA Honor Orchestra students will be preparing this Friday for a concert on Saturday at 1:00pm at the COS Theater.  Congratulations to Marissa Salas, Pedro Campos-Reyes, Ayatha Picar, Lizette Campos, Mikayla Spink, Mia Santeliz and McKenna Abbiss!  Great job Explorers!  Come on out and enjoy some great music!

Show your LJ PRIDE!  Sign up to be an Honor Graduate for La Joya.  In order to be an Honor Graduate, you must be a CJSF member for 3 of your 4 semesters here at La Joya.  CJSF - California Junior Scholastic Federation is an Honor Society that you must qualify for with your good grades.  Seventh and eighth graders it is your time to sign up.  Bring your last semester's report card (which you will receive today) and  $1 dues and see Mrs. Gibson in room 101 or Mrs. Allen in room 503 beginning Friday, January 25th!

*Athletics is selling pizza tomorrow, $2 a slice and $1 for a water.

*WIN Academy
Looking for something to do this Saturday. Come to WIN Academy. You can play board and computer games with Mr. Hefner, get caught up on History with Mr. Saroca, or get caught up in ELA with Ms. Moore. On top of that, attending helps you makeup an unexcused absence. Sign up through the La Joya website, and encourage a friend to sign up too.


Sports ANNOUNCEMENTS

Congratulations to the La Joya girls JV soccer team who beat Dinuba 3-0 on Tuesday. Goals by the explorers were by Daisy Lopez, Aly Sanchez and Beya VIllarreal. Assists by Jaydyn Rivas, Jordyn Soto and Taylor Vandergriff. Leila Fernandez had a save in the goal. Great job ladies!

Congratulations to the La Joya girls Varsity soccer team who beat Dinuba 5-0 on Tuesday. Goals by the explorers were by Saleen Mariscal (2), Reanna  Soto (2) and Lynea Rivera. Assists by Jaydyn Villarreal, Isabelle Gonzales, Saleen Mariscal, Reanna Soto, and Lynea Rivera. Great job ladies!

The LaJoya Varsity Basketball team defeated Dinuba, 40 - 24, on Tuesday. Offensive standouts were Johnny Chavez (8 points); Elijah Martinez, Max Martin, and Freddie Valencia (6); Noah Garcia, Cooper Schimpf, and Avery Conway (4);  Rylan Montgomery (2). Defensive standouts were Chavez, Martinez, Garcia, Martin, and Schimpf.

On Tuesday the JV boys Basketball team defeated Washington Intermediate 32-30. The team was led by Santana Guijarra who had 16 points and made a pair of game winning free throws with .3 seconds remaining.  Also scoring were Keynen Gomez (4), Jordan Sanchez and Emmanuel Robles (3), and Abraham Maciel, Alvaro Flores, and Josiah Simmons with (2). Great comeback win, boys!

Last Wednesday the JV Boys Basketball team defeated Valley Oak, 33-11. Leading La Joya were Santana Guijarra (11 points), Emmanuel Robles (8), Keynen Gomez (6), Abraham Maciel (4), and Jordan Sanchez and Josiah Simmons (2). Great defense and ball movement from Guijarra, Robles, Gomez, Sanchez, Kevin Baldwin, and Isaiah Rivera.

The next PTSA meeting will be held on Mon. Jan. 28th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in the Library.

Report cards will be sent home with students today.
