Good morning Explorers, let's remember to have La Joya PRIDE in everything we do!


STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

* Our amazing groundskeeper works very hard to make sure that the campus has beautiful flowers, plants, trees, and grass.  Please show respect for his efforts by leaving the plants intact, not pulling off their flowers or buds, and staying off the grass.  Also, pick up any trash on the ground you many find, even if it's not yours.    Let's show PRIDE in our campus!

*Be an honor graduate! CJSF Sign-ups have begun.  Bring your semester report card and $1 due to Ms. Sayre in room 101 or Mrs. Allen in room 503 to see if you qualify to be a member of this prestigious society.  Sign-ups will end Friday, February 7th,  so don't delay!!


*ASB is selling pizza today, $2 a slice and $1 for a water.

* Are you interested in competing in the Tulare County Math Super Bowl? If you love math and problem solving, sign up soon for Mrs. Cerecedo's or Mr. Harrell's enrichment RTI February 6. If you would like more information, talk to either teacher in 607 or 608. Space is limited!

*Attention students - Tuesday, February 11th is the Academic Awards Night.  Letters will be going home soon to those students who have made Honor Roll, with more information.  There is a list of all the Honor Roll students posted in each classroom, in front of the Library and on the windows of Pathfinder and Magellan.  If you think you should have made the Honor Roll, be sure your name is on the list.  If it is not, please see Mrs. Sales in the Pathfinder office or Mrs. Shinault.


Sports ANNOUNCEMENTS

The La Joya Varsity basketball team defeated Divisadero, 43 - 24, on Wednesday. Offensive standouts were Keynen Gomez and Jordan Sanchez (8 points); Santana Guijarro (7); Abraham Maciel (6);  Jayden Dillihunt and Emmanuel Robles (4); Ethan Nevarez (3); Jonathan Aguirre (2); and Frank Martinez (1). Defensive standouts were Sanchez, Guijarro, Dillihunt, Maciel, Robles, and Gomez.

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Soccer team who beat Divisadero yesterday 10-0. Alyviah Sanchez scored 3 goals, Morgan Phillipe and Keyana Speight each scored 2. Jadyn, Taylor, and Bella Villarreal each had 1 goal. Taylor Vandergriff had 3 assists . Allison Alvarez, Daisy Lopez, Morgan Philippe and Jadyn Rivas each had one assist. Alisha Vasquez had 2 saves in the goal. Great job ladies!

On Wednesday the JV boys basketball team defeated Divisadero, 56-24. Leading the offensive attack were Ezra Ayers (18 points), Cash Marquez (9), Jacob Avila (8), Matthew Perez (7), Joseph Pena and Logan Tavarez (6), Owen Reimer and Michael Marquez (2). Great game boys!

The Girls JV Basketball Team defeated JFK 28 - 9 on Monday and Divisadero on Wednesday 28 - 13.  Alani Carranza scored a total of 16 points in the two games, Citali Barajas had 9 points, Jazzy Flores had 6 points and Saira Gutierrez scored 6 points.  Great job ladies!  Their next game will be at Green Acres on Monday.
