1.       It is that time of year again PROM 2017 is coming!  ENCHANTED EVENING PROM DRESS/TUXEDO GIVE-AWAY will be on Saturday April 1st at 6:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Wyndham Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn); for Junior and Senior boys and girls that can't afford a dress or tux because of a hardship.  Sign-ups will be in the Counseling Office, Deadline is TODAY.

 1.  Anita de la Vega Scholarship
The FHCN is offering a $600 scholarship to a student who meets the following criteria: female student preferred, 2.5GPA or above, migrant or seasonal farm working family background, community service, and pursuing a health degree.

*         The applicant must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

*         Applicants must have a Grade Point Average of at least a 3.0 (B average) for the most recent academic year.
*         The criteria for scholarship selection will be based on varying degrees of the following:  academics, school and community involvement, stated goals and career objectives.
*         The applicant must be at least 17 years of age.
*         The applicant must be a resident of Tulare or Kings County.

*         The applicant must be a legal citizen of the United States

Criteria: Students must be a graduating high school senior in Tulare County, have a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer service outside of school, which focuses on improving literacy in Tulare County, cumulative GPA of 2.5, plan on attending a college, university, or trade school in the US.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENT:
1.       JUNIORS:  If you haven't already, please stop by the Counseling Office to pick up your Fall 2016 PSAT Test Booklet.  You will be able to use the PSAT Test Booklet as a study guide for the upcoming SAT.  If you have any questions, please see Mr. Matta.
2.       LINK CREW APPLICATIONS 2017-2018!!!  If you are interested in mentoring the Freshman Class next year and help them adjust to life here at Redwood please pick up an application.  You can pick them up in the office on the information wall or in Counseling/Attendance.  Mrs. Wall will also have some in her Sierra Vista classroom SVPE if you would like to pick up there.  Applications are due by April 19th!!
3.       The CSF Redwood Campus Clean-up will be on Wednesday April 5th at 3:30 - 4:15 p.m.  All current members are invited to participate in the beautification of our school.  Meet in Room 108 at 3:25 p.m., and be ready to work!  Snacks, plastic gloves, and garbage bags will be provided.  For questions, email gcheatwood at vusd.org.
PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1.       ATTENTION SENIOR LADIES!  The Tulare County Panhellenic is holding an information session on Sunday April 2nd at 2:00 p.m. for all young women attending a 4-year university in the Fall.  This is a scholarship opportunity you don't want to miss.  Please RSVP (559)901-7160 by April 1st for location information.  See Mrs. Jauregui if you need additional information.
2.       OPEN HOUSE will be on Monday April 3rd from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
3.       REDWOOD CHOIR BOOSTER MEETING will be next Tuesday April 4th at 6:00 p.m. in the Choir Room.  All choir parents are invited to come!
4.       CHEER PACKETS DEADLINE is Thursday April 6th!  You can drop them off in the Counseling Office.
5.       SPRING BREAK will be from Monday April 10th with students returning on Tuesday April 18th.

 1.  PTSA MEETINGS will be April 24th, and May 22nd in the Redwood Library at 5:30 p.m.
 2.  NEW FOREIGN LANGUAGE OPTIONS:  Redwood is looking to offer additional foreign languages for next school year.  The additional options are AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE AND CHINESE MANDARIN. Students who are interested in requesting either of these languages need to notify their counselor ASAP.
8.       The M.E.Ch.A. CLUB in collaboration with XL Leadership Club are working together in a heartfelt project "Bottles for Babies."  Members of both clubs are collecting donations to raise money during the month of March 2017.  All proceeds will go to Young Lives Organization.  The mission of Young Lives is to create a positive and sustainable change in the lives of teen moms and their children, impacting two generations at once.

 1.  The HIGH SCHOOL ATTENDANCE INCENTIVE PROGRAM - "It's COOL TO GO TO SCHOOL" - is back!  Any student with PERFECT ATTENDANCE this year is automatically entered into the drawing for a new Nissan Versa, courtesy of the Groppetti Automotive Family.  There are two way to achieve PERFECT ATTENDANCE this year; please visit your Attendance Office for contest rules."
SENIORS:
1.       UC ANALYTICAL WRITING PLACEMENT EXAMINATION:  The University of California will administer the Analytical Writing Placement Examination (AWPE) on Saturday May 13th to students who have been admitted to a UC for Fall 2017 and have not satisfied the Entry Level Writing Requirement by other means. 2.       SENIORS!  There are several scholarships due in March.  Please check the RHS Scholarship Page (https://sites.google.com/a/vusd.us/redwood/march) frequently for the most up to date information.
SCHOLARSHIPS:

 1.  ATTENTION RANGERS!  The ROTARY CLUB OF VISALIA is hosting an art contest.  The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship.  This is open to all grade levels.  The artwork should feature the theme of human trafficking awareness and prevention.  Due date is April 1st.  Email Mrs. Jauregui if you have any questions.
 2.  The Robert Harrell Career and Technical Education Scholarship This scholarship currently gives approximately 30 scholarships at $1,000 each for various vocational technical programs. The scholarship is for a student who is from Visalia (or lives in Tulare County and is attending a vocational program in Visalia) and is pursuing a vocational technical school in an accredited institution. There are four application periods each year for the Robert Harrell Career and Technical Education Scholarship. Please refer to the scholarship for the dates.  Deadline April 15th.
