STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

*       EDHS Girl's Water Polo
Anyone 8th grade student who is interested in joining the El Diamante Girl's Water Polo team, please pick up a flyer from the girl's locker room.  Summer session starts June 5th, any questions please contact Coach Young at ryoung at vusd.org

*       Pizza Sales
Athletics will be selling pizza on Thursday.  $2 per slice and $1 for a water.  Bring your money to help support our athletic programs.

*       ASB Elections 2017-18
Attention 7th grade students.  Are you interested in running for President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Athletic Commissioner, or Activities Commissioner for the 2017-2018 school year?  Well get ready, because applications will be available in the Pathfinder Office starting Monday May 1st.  Applications are due Wednesday May 11th.  All applicants must have a 3.0 grade point average, good attendance, good citizenship and have no discipline/incidents records, no referrals, and no detentions.
*       EDHS Band
All students planning to be a part of the Marching Miners at El Diamante next year should plan to attend the Miner Picnic on Saturday, May 27th, from 9AM-2PM at EDHS. Visit www.edhsbands.com for more information.

*       State Testing Raffle
Congratulations to yesterday's State Testing Raffle winners.  The 7th grade winner for the state testing raffle is Claudia Gutierrez and the 8th grade winner is Lesley Marroquin.  Please come to the front office after school to pick up your reward.  We will be doing drawings everyday during testing and will have a few big drawings at the end of testing.  Show your PRIDE and be here everyday doing your best for testing to receive a raffle ticket.

*       2017-2018 WEB Leaders
Attention Prospective WEB Leaders for next year. Applications to be a WEB Leader are available now. If you are interested in being a WEB leader pick up an application in the Pathfinder or Magellan Pod, or the library. Applications are due April 28th to Mr. Gridiron in Pathfinder Office. Late applications will not be accepted.
Sports ANNOUNCEMENTS
*       Wednesday 4/26
Baseball and Softball are at Divisadero.  Dismissal time is 2:45,  start time is 4:00pm.
Thursday 4/27
Track has their League Championship meet, which is held at the Groppetti Stadium (Golden West).  Dismissal time is 2:55, start time is 4:30.
JV Softball
The La Joya Junior Varsity Softball Team defeated JFK, 19- 0, on Monday. The Lady Explorers were led by Pitcher Karlie Bilbrey who pitched a complete game. Offensive standouts were Maddy Caine (homerun); Emelie Lopez (2 hits); and LisaMarie Rendon (1). Defensive standouts were Ryleigh Rush, Ariana Ruiz, Alyssa Lackey, Jazilyn Jazilyn Vargas, Lopez, and Bilbrey.

*       JV Baseball
Branson Campbell threw a No hitter Monday against JFK. Facing only 9 batters striking out 6. He helped the JV baseball team win a decisive victory over JFK Hanford with the score of 16-0. Donan "Deuce" Benevente and Henry Vidak lead the team with 3 RBI's, Deuce had another Homerun for the second game in a row. Collecting hits in the game were, Elias Pineda, Bryson Perry, Cole Kenison, Tanner Anderson and Zach Alfaro.

*       Varsity Softball
Varsity Girls Softball beat JFK on Monday 10-0.  Emma Garcia pitched a No Hitter and had 9 strikeouts in the game.  Offensively, the following players had a successful day at the plate: Laine Garcia, Geneva Fernandez, Maya Bivens, Kyla Rios, Isabella Amaro, Madison Chamalbide
